Breakfast is chaos. I needed to get out of there and fast. Bread and cereal was tossed about, milk had been spilled and everyone just seems overtired and distressed. Post summer depression they call it. Americans have a funny way of showing their depression, everything is mayhem. I quickly make my lunch, then grab a banana and go. The fresh morning air welcomed me with peace and harmony as I made my way to school.
But that didn't last long. "Tamara!" A familiar voice yelled behind me, "Tamara, wait up!" I turned around to find Emmy awkwardly running to catch up with me. Her hair was tied effortlessly into a cute messy bun and despite her lazy effort, she looked good. I self consiously pulled at my own uniform. Luckily, blazers weren't regulation and all that we had to wear was a nice thin dress that still looked sophisticated in this sweltering heat. She finally caught up to where I stood, puffing and weezing. Definetly not an athlete, I mentally noted down.
"You're going the wrong way bud," She said to me once she caught her breath, "schools on 25th street," I looked at her confused as she grabbed my arm and pulled me into the opposite direction.
"isn't it that way?" I said pulling back waving to where I was just standing.
"Nope, 25th street of Victoria silly, it would take you hours to walk there. Follow me, Jackson will take us to school," and there it was again, the same feeling of my stomach summersaulting. I tried not to show that I cared to much or blush away to give away to Emmy that I felt attracted to Jackson, but that failed miserably. she shook her head and gave me a smile, "he's cute isn't he, no, he's drop dead gorgeous, you better stay back," she said seriously. This time my stomach turned in the not so nice way, instead it was sickly and unsettling. But then Emmy started laughing and slapped me on the shoulder. "Don't worry, I don't care, everyone is attracted to him, as long as you don't hook up with him, I couldn't care less." I tried to laugh along with her but it came out forced, Emmy's comment had stabbed me straight in the heart. Obviously Jackson had eyes for Emmy and Emmy only, and that was never going to change.
We walked past our house and then turned up a street to find Jackson leaning against his car. Even with a shirt his body was chisled perfection. We walked over to the hottie and Emmy called out his name, and he smiled. My heart melted and I smiled and waved back.
"Oh hey Tamara," he replied and my heart froze back up, the smile hadn't been for me. He opened up both the front and back door for us and I climbed into the back. Emmy had gotten into the front and Jackson joined us, giving his girlfriend a hello kiss. I squirmed away uncomfertablly as I caught sight of someone's tounge and looked out the window, the houses started moving past as we got going.
Jackson and Emmy talked all through the car ride, leaving me sitting awkwardly in the back. LA traffic was shit. Luckily we got into the car pull lane, so I watched us pass all the stand still cars and the bored faces of the people inside. After 20 minutes of driving we rolled in the car park of a place that was signed with Santa High Academy. My new school. I gazed at all the other student's flash cars and brick buildings that belonged to the flash private school. Something very unexpected in a city like this.
"you coming?" Jackson called out to me, I snapped into reality and realised that we had already parked. I grabbed my backpack and got out of Jackson's low rise red car, "what have you got first?" I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone containing my timetable.
"Science, room T6," I read out to him, "what about you?"
He pulled out his own and gave me a smile, "same."
A looked over at Emmy who had been surrounded by a group of friends,
"Popular is she?" I asked Jackson, still look admirably at the blonde.
"The most," Jackson replied simply, "everyone loves her," he smiled, and my eyes turned a shade of green, "come on, lets go." He said and he led the way to science.

Everyone stared at me as Jackson and I walked to the back desks o the class. Whispers spread the room and I felt myself blush. Being the new girl already sucked. I pulled out my pencil case and science book and notebook, and looked over to Jackson who was looky weirdly at my stationary.
"That's a lot of stuff,"
"I like to stay organised." I replied shortly.
"Isn't that easier with less stuff?" I was about to reply with another short remark when an old teacher walked into class. He was of asian decent, and as he welcomed us, I realised he was from there as well. I could barely understand the old man. "Great, Mr Wong, I love this guy," Jackson practically jumped in his seat, "don't be decieved from his accent, this guy rocks."
I barely listened in class, and nobody talked as we were set work. I was almost about to fall asleep, but then Jackson hissed in my ear and I snapped awake. He passed me over a note and I unravelled the crumpled paper. coming to party tonight? It wrote. I looked at him but he was back at his work. I scribbled a message on the back tonight? i don't see why not. I passed him the note back and watched him as he read it. His lips crept into a smile and he looked at me and nodded. Was it just me or did he seem really excited? I smiled back and then he turned to finish of his worksheet, but I spent the rest of the lesson smiling to myself, excited for the party and excited about Jackson.
