As the sun streams through the bay windows, my eyes slowly flutter open. The white curtains dim the brightness of the sunrise, but not enough to keep it from blinding for a few short seconds. Reaching for my phone on my nightstand, I see that it is six in the morning.
Ugh, too early. I settle back down on my soft black sheets, knowing that a little more sleep would do me some good. I went to bed late last night. I needed to get more rest. Having little to no sleep made me not so pleasant to be around.
I pulled the covers over my head trying falling back to sleep. As soon as I get comfortable, I feel muscular arms wrap around my waist. As they pull me closer to their body, they nuzzle my neck. I begin to panic.
Oh my god! Who is this person!
I start to reach for my phone until I hear a deep voice filled with sleep say, "Morning Reesey Poo."
I start to calm down, realizing that it is just my best friend Kyler. He was supposed to be in the guest room. He spent the night because we had a little too much to drink. This was a common occurrence for both of us. However, this time I did not realize he snuck in last night.
"Oh my God! You scared the living shit out of me! I thought you were a murderer or something," I say turning my body to face him in bed. I come face to face with his rock hard chest. This seemed to be a better view than the sunrise.
With his eyes closed, biting his lower lip, he whispers, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
My hands come up to his chest, I lay a soft kiss on his cheek and smirk,"It's okay. Good Morning to you too. But I have to ask, why are you in my bed?"
He runs his hand down my exposed back, making me shiver. I suddenly felt very exposed. I only had on a sports bra and sleeping shorts. I look down watching his long fingers trail down my side to my thigh. My breath catches in my throat as I look up at him again. He smiles at me, with his dimples making an appearance. Opening his eyes, I see his bright blue ocean eyes staring at me. I gulp getting lost in his eyes.
"I got lost?"I roll my eyes at him as he leans his forehead against mine,"Fine, it feels weird not having you next to me when I know you're only in the room next door. Plus you haven't asked me to sleep in the guest room since you moved here," he says with a serious look in his eyes.
"Well I haven't asked until now because I'm not having consistent nightmares anymore."
"I just wanted to be there just in case babe ," he says in a whisper kissing my forehead.
I look down smiling, with his tan arms wrapped around my waist. We were always touching each other, more than normal best friends do. It was our normal, and his touch was always a comfort for me. It always reminded me that I had support from him and not to be scared.
I roll on top of him and straddle him, smirking. Looking down, and staring into his blue's I say, "You're too good to me."
He simply sighs and wraps his arms around me while he sits up against my lavender headboard. His neatly cut beard tickles the bridge of my nose as I feel tingles in the pit of my stomach. He pulls me against him, hugging me tightly.
He runs his hands up and down my back, making me relax. My eyelids flutter close, my ear against his chest. I listened to the rhythm of his heartbeat remembering all the times I lay my head on his chest after tears, exhaustion, and just to relax with him.
"I am just treating you the way you deserve to be treated." he says looking at me with longing in his eyes.
"Ugh Kyler, why can't you just be your usual asshole self instead of being all sentimental this morning," I let out a nervous laugh.
We stare at each other for a long minute. Kyler slowly releases me and puts me on my side of the bed. He slides out of bed with nothing on but boxers. I stare at him as his brown hair falls into his face. He sweeps it up into a man bun, showing the shaven parts around his head. My eyes traveled farther down, seeing the six pack he worked so hard to get. I am pleased with his improvement. When did his abs start to look that defined? As my gaze started to wonder lower upon his body, the v he had leading to his boxers looked so lickable. The dark hair trailing down to his crotch was oddly sexy to me. In his black boxers, I saw the outline-
"Sorry for trying to be a decent person for a change," he says laughing, "and babe I appreciate you appreciating this beautiful body." He says while grinning like he won something, "But, do you like what you see? " he asked, winking at me.
I groan at his words and roll my eyes. I flop back on to the bed sighing, staring up at my ceiling, I huff out, "Just take a shower already, " turning towards him and smirking. The thought of him naked took up a very welcomed space in my mind.
"Only if you join me."
I sit up fast, feeling slightly dizzy, and look at him, narrowing my eyes, "Excuse me?"
He laughs, the deep tone of his laugh was like music to my ears. A melody I never wanted to stop hearing. He turns and walks into my ensuite bathroom. As much as I liked the thought of us in the shower together, it was a thought that I refused to let Ky know about.
As Kyler was taking a shower I figure I should pick out my clothes for the long day ahead. A black sweater dress and red pumps will do I guess. As I was about to get the undergarments I was going to wear, I heard a sound coming from my phone.
Knowing that it was a text notification and it could be important, I walk over to my nightstand and pick it up.
Justin: Morning Beautiful! Rise And Shine. Big Day Ahead Of Us Gorgeous. Make Sure You Look Your Best.
Me: Are you saying I never look my best? And good morning to you too. Make sure you're fully dressed this time.
I roll my eyes as I end the text with a wink face emoji.
Me:Btw, the compliments are making me gag.
I smirk down at my phone. Switching from foot to foot, I felt nervous all of a sudden.
Ding.
Justin: Well Played...Well Played. Next Time I'll Say Good Morning Troll. Btw You Always Look Good.
I begin to blush and smile, about to reply, to the idiot who gave me a daily morning text. All of a sudden I feel strong, powerful arms wrap around my waist. Kyler rests his head on my shoulder and nuzzles my neck, causing me to hold back a moan. My core suddenly felt heated from the feel of his beard against my neck. I breathe in deeply, closing my eyes briefly, he smelled of my seaside breeze body wash. He was always using my body wash even though he had his own here.
"Who are you texting that got you so nervous?" he asks, looking over my shoulder.
I back turn away from him and set my phone back on the nightstand.
As I'm about to say no one, my phone chimes with an incoming text. He hovers over me trapping me against the nightstand and himself. He frowns looking down at my phone over my shoulder, and picks it up. Justin must have been the one who texted because he puts down my phone and walks into the closet, not saying a single word to me.
I follow him into the walk-in closet to find him putting on boxers, averting my eyes, I ask, "Why do you hate me talking to Justin so much? It's not like I cannot not talk to him."
He looks at me with a blank stare, as if he's in deep thought. Then looks away and goes to his side of the closet. When I moved into the apartment, I insisted that he has some clothes here. We spent so much time in my apartment that it only seemed right.
He gets dressed still not saying a single word. I stare at him, knowing eventually he'll talk.
After about five minutes he comes towards me. His eyes darker than before, "He'll string you along," he whispers his voice turning cold, "and I rather not pick up the pieces this time and tell you I told you so."
