Proverbs 18:21 stresses the importance of words, saying that, 'Death and life are in the power of the tongue,' and truthfully so. The Earth as we know it was created by the Words of God. Jesus calmed the storm with His words. You're brought from darkness into God's marvellous light through the Words of Salvation you say.

So yes, they're important.
