Chapter 4

Recap: Bryan finds out Alice's secret

 How did he know that I was the last person to see Max , Sandy , Bree, Andrew and Bethany?  The only person who knew was Officer Brook , not even my mum knew and thats pretty serious for me.

" Huh"

"Dont play dumb , Alice"

"I'm not" 

He sighs and rubs his eyes 

"Just help me Alice, I dont have time for this"

" I'll answer your question if you answer mine"

"Deal" He then stuck his hand out and I shook it

"Why did you come back, to Stonewell I mean. I'm sure if I had a chance to leave this town I would"

He smirks , he really just smirked at me

" Well unlike you Alice, I wanted to come back"

I gap at him "Seriously"

"Of course not"

" So then why are you back"

He smirks yet again "For you of course"

"No seriously why" I demand

" I want to find out what happened to Max"

" Why come back now a year after it happened and nobody ever talks about them so good luck in finding out what happened, I think everyone assumes they are runaways or something"

 "Well ,I heard about Bethany and I know Max he never would run away , trust me"

"Ok"

"So you done with the questioning?"

"Yup , go ahead with yours"

"What happened the last time you saw Max?"

Flashback

Hehe, I love my mum so much , she had just brought me my first Iphone , I could not believe it. The first people I gave my number to were Max and Chessca.

Just at that momment an apple ringtone went off , I sent myself a reminder to change the ringtone

"Hi Alice, I need your help can you come over?"

"Sure Max , anytime"

Twenty minutes later I was standing outside Max's house

I went up to the door and knocked 

" Hi , Alice sweetie" I looked up to see Max's mum, Her and Brendan like my parents are still together 

She then turns around and hollers up the stairs

"Max, Alice is here" , turns and gives me a smile before walking out of the room

I check my watch 10:30pm 

"Alice , I'm so glad you could come, let's go to my room"

With that we turn up the stairs and into his room

His room is your average teenage boy messy room , you know

" Alice I need to tell you something, for the past week I have been getting this nagging feeling in the pit of my stomah that something very bad is going to happen, I think I'm being stalked , Alice. Someone was watching me when I was walking home yesterday and that wasn't the first time either" 

I felt my body tense up,

"Why didn't you tell me?" I shouted at him 

"Because I didn't want to burden or get you involved"

"I'm your best friend Max"

"No , your more to me " and with that he leans down and gives me a quick peck on the lips

It felt nice - the fireworks that people always talk about didn't go off 

I knew that it was his first kiss

"Sorry I shouldn't of done that" He says with a cute little blush

I let out a chuckle "I liked it" and that's alll it took for his lips to land on  mine yet again only this time for longer we auctually ended up making out hehe.

When we were done we put our foreheads together and stared into each others eyes.

"I will keep you safe , forever and ever. Everything will be okay"

It was around 11:50 by the time I checked my watch 

So I said"Ok Max , I will see you tommorrow"

With that I left but I left something at Max's something I didn't think he could return, my heart

I looked back 11:59pm , I couldn't wait to see Max tommorrow!

Flashback Over

I hadn't told anyone about what happened that night or the contents

"I was at his house earlier in the day" I said

He leans closer "And what time did you leave?"

I gulp "Not long before"

"Alice , we both want the truth , so tell me the exact time you left the house"

"11:59pm"

"I know your mum doesnt let you out after 10pm what happend to that"

"How do you know that"

"Because I know your mum , Alice why did your mum let you stay?"

" She thought I was going to sleep over and come back home in the morning but the plans changed"

"Alice , did you hear someone inside the house when you left?"

"Yes, I heard a scream"
