You sat on the floor of your son's room, passing the time and trying to calm your nerves down by watching his favorite cartoons with him.
You've been anticipating this day for a while and although you know deep down that everything will be fine, you worry that Jisoo might get overwhelmed by the chaos that raising a seven-year-old comes with.
Your son, Aiden, is pretty easy-going. It's been only the two of you for a while. Sure, you've had a couple of relationships since he was born, but you've never felt the way you feel about Jisoo with any of them.
You're sure that's obvious though. Because she's the only one you've trusted enough to come into this part of your life.
The others weren't long lasting and you knew from the moment you met them that they wouldn't stick around long. Bringing your seven-year-old into the picture was never an option. You didn't want him to get attached, only for them to walk away and break his little heart more than they ever could yours.
But Jisoo... she's different from the others. You felt it from the moment you met just six months ago. You trusted her within the first couple of weeks of knowing her and brought Aiden up in a few conversations.
You told her all about him. His likes and dislikes. How smart and kind he is. How he's your entire world.
And for the first time, they're going to meet tonight.
You know she's the one. You wonder if it might be too soon to say that. But you've never felt love like this before and neither has she.
You heard a knock at the door and your head quickly turned from the tv and back to your son.
"I'll be right back, okay?"
He nodded and turned back to his cartoons while you walked out of the room. You took a good look in the mirror, hoping you looked good.
But you know Jisoo would love you just the same as she does when you wear a dress as you do now, in your jeans and a t-shirt.
You made your way down the stairs and greeted her at the door with a smile.
"Hey, Jisoo." You grinned, watching as her eyes lit up when she saw your face.
"Hey, beautiful." She smiled and kissed your cheek lovingly.
You noticed the bag in her hands and you couldn't help but ask what was inside.
"What's in the bag?"
"It's a gift for Aiden." She smiled and your heart melted, finding it so sweet how she wanted to bond with him and how considerate she was to bring him something special.
"Oh, well, he'll love you for whatever you got him, that's for sure." You teased and called out for him.
He peeked around the staircase and slowly walked down. Standing by your side, Jisoo was amused by how he looked like your little twin.
"Oh, well, aren't you adorable?" Jisoo giggled. "I'm Jisoo. Has your mom told you about me?"
He nodded.
"Okay. Well, I'm so happy to meet you. Your mom talks about you all the time. She's very proud of you. I'm hoping you'll like me."
He smiled a little and Jisoo's heart fluttered a little as she thought about being the reason behind him smiling.
"I got you something." She said and handed the bag to him. "Your mom says you like lions, so I got you a little stuffed one. Hope you like it."
He opened the bag then looked at Jisoo, his smile growing bigger by the second before he threw his arms around her.
"Thank you!"
"You're welcome." She chuckled.
"Do you like cartoons and video games?"
"Are you kidding?" She giggled. "I love them!"
"Wanna come watch them with me and my mom?"
Your heart skipped a beat. He was opening up to her already. Showing her his favorite things and inviting her to enjoy them with him. It warmed your heart.
"I'd be happy to."
He took her hand and pulled her up the stairs.
"Wait, Aiden, I was gonna talk to Jisoo about-"
"Later, mom!" He yelled and Jisoo turned around with a giggle, grinning from ear to ear at you and let him drag her to his bedroom.
"These are my toys," he smiled and dragged her around the room, showing her every single thing with big eyes. She watched him put his lion on his bed, near his pillows. "Watch cartoons with me?"
"Sure," she smiled and sat beside him, her eyes bright as he filled her in on every single thing about the cartoon.
"Am I invited to join?"
"Yeah!" They both said and you happily sat beside Jisoo, her fingers intertwining with yours right away.
"He's so sweet." Jisoo said. "Reminds me so much of you. You've obviously been a great example for him."
"He's my whole world. Well, now the both of you are."
She kissed your cheek softly and stared back at the tv, watching cartoons with the both of you.
"Hey, Aiden?" You asked and he turned his head. "Want some dinner?"
"Yeah!" He said.
"How about after dinner we go for ice cream? My treat." Jisoo offered and his eyes went wide.
"Oh, now you're gonna be his favorite." You said and Jisoo giggled, taking ahold of Aiden's small hand in hers and leading you both out the door for dinner and ice cream.
The entire evening was filled with laughter and pure happiness. Your son was already getting close with Jisoo, even begging for her to come back home for a while.
But by the time you got home, he was out like a light, despite the sugar in his system. You'd gone for a walk and pet the dogs in the park along the way.
Jisoo told him about her job and he was amazed by every single thing about it. She promised to take him into the studio one day and you've never seen his eyes so bright in his seven years of life.
You carried him inside, his head on your chest as Jisoo opened the door for you.
"I'm gonna put him to bed. Wait for me?"
"Absolutely." She smiled and took a seat on the sofa, waiting patiently for you as you climbed the stairs.
"Wait." Aiden mumbled and opens his tired eyes to look at Jisoo before you turned the corner. "Night, Jisoo. Come back tomorrow?"
"I'd love to." She said happily and waved to him, watching his eyes light up and wave goodbye before he fell back asleep on your shoulder.
You put him to bed, kissing his head lovingly and telling him to have sweet dreams before turning his night light on and walking downstairs to Jisoo.
"Hey, lovely." She grinned and opened her arms for you. "Are you tired at all?"
"No." You fibbed, hoping she'd buy it and stay with you longer. "Stay with me."
"Okay." She said, kissing you lovingly.
You turned a movie on, head on her shoulder with her arms wrapped around you. You shared kisses, held hands, and laughed at the film.
But soon, you were asleep with your head on her chest and her hand still wrapped in yours.
She kissed your head, tired but refusing to leave just yet.
"I'm falling in love with you; deeply in love. You and Aiden are becoming my whole entire world already." She whispered and kissed your head, staring down at you in amazement, not wanting the night to ever end.
