Dereks p.o.v:
I watch as Emma bolts away, and can't help but feel confused. What? Usually, if someone said something like that to her, she'd justify herself, but what I just witnessed. . .

I think back to the day that drove us apart.
"Come on Derek!," Emma calls from the edge of the cornfield. As I race over to her, I can't help but feel guilty at what's about to happen.
As we race through the cornfield, at least a dozen, if not more, block our path. I try to act like I don't know what's happening, when the guy at the front points at Emma and asks, "is this her?" I take a deep breath and nod.
The high schoolers leap at Emma, and I have to admit, she fights back harder when a dozen knives are pointed at her from all directions.
