Emmas p.o.v:

I snicker evily as Thug, Shady, and Slaughter circle the three girls. Paige, Lauren, and Ashley look terrified. Adrain snickers beside me. Soon Thug and his crew are laughing along. The girls cry out in terror.

Thug punches Ashley in the arm. She cries, and we laugh. Soon, we hear a new voice. "Emma! Stop!" I turn to find none other than Derek Mason. I glance at Adrian, and he nods. Adrain grabs Derek and slams him against the wall.

"I'm surprised you still remember my name Derek," I say. He glares at me through narrowed eyes. "Remember how we used to hang out Derek? How we used to be best friends?"

"You changed that Emma. I had no say in what you did."

"YOU changed what we had Derek. I did nothing to you."

He sighs. "You're right. It was my fault. But you have to understand-"

"No Derek. Things have changed. I'm not that girl that sits around, waiting around for old friends to come back and cries for old grievances to end."

I turn to leave, when Derek says something that strikes me hard. "That's exactly what it sounded like this morning." I stop dead, then turn to him.

"I heard you," he says. "I heard you crying that you think I've left you behind, that I've replaced you." His voice is just above a whisper when he says, "I haven't." I slowly begin to back away, then turn and bolt. Not again, I think, it's happening again!
