Night

To my dearest wife, Lee...

Hey sweetie
I have been gone for just over one week and I have missed you greatly.
I am going to try to write to you two to three times a day until we come home.
The way this will go is the letters will be shipped back to the states every Saturday so you will most likely get 7 letters on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
The time is approximately midnight. I only have roughly ten or so minutes to write tonight because I have been selected to go on the first resupply route. Tonight we have a three hour travel from where we are stationed just outside Paris and traveling to just outside Metz. We are just resupplying the unit there with rations, ammunition, and medicine.
The food here sucks.
I am only allowed to shower twice a week.
I average three to four hours of sleep a night. And I am constantly exhausted. Ya I can grab some sleep here and there throughout the day when I'm not busy but thats not very often.
Seven hundred and fifty of us have been sent to the trenches. In six months we will flip and I will be sent to the trenches on the front lines.
Unfortunately I have to go now, I will write to you first thing in the morning.
I love you.

Love, you're husband...
Christopher
