"I'm sorry if I came on a little strong this morning," I heard the annoyingly high pitched voice of Thea Calligaris as she spoke to Avery, who happened to be seated at the Calligaris girl's table.
I rolled my eyes at her as she tried to scare Avery away.
"For the longest time, every boy wanted to be the, and everyone who likes boys wanted to date them. The way they look. The way they act," Thea continued with pride as Avery became even more uncomfortable. "Even just being Hawthorne-adjacent changed the way that people looked at you."
Thea took that exact moment to look at me as I passed by the two as smirked at me, causing Avery to turn around and look at me.
"Seems like they're talking about some special people, huh," Jameson spoke as she twirled around me, surprising me, giving me a wink in return. "Good to see you back here, Bella."
I scoffed at Jameson and rolled my eyes at Thea.
"Damn you, Winchester," I snickered before walking over to Avery and Thea's conversation.
"They aren't what you think they are," Thea told Avery as I walked up behind them. "I wouldn't want to live in a house with the Hawthornes."
"Yeah, I wouldn't want to live with someone like you either," I laughed as I sarcastically checked my nails.
Thea rolled her eyes at me as Avery turned to me.
"What are you doing here?" she asked me, surprised.
"I go here, don't I?" I replied, sassily.
"Uh, we should go," Avery said as she stood, but Thea stood with her.
"Think what you want about me," the girl said to both us us, eyeing me especially, "but the last girl at this school who got tangled up with the Hawthorne brothers? The last girl who spent hour after hour in that house? She died."
Avery's face was full of shock and fear as she braced her arms around her.
"Well," I mocked the Calligaris girl, "I'm still here, aren't I?"
Thea stepped toward me and into my space. I put my hands against her so she couldn't get any closer and luckily, I had the age and height advantage over her.
"Not for long, Prairie," she sneered with evil, but also a hint of concern and... was that fear? "You know you should have."
I spun on my heel away from her and pranced away with Avery on my heels.
"What did she mean-" Avery tried to say but I stopped abruptly and put my hand up in her face.
"Stop," I said, curtly. "I don't want to talk about it."
And with that, I walked away from the confused girl and out of the door with a stray tear rolling down my cheek.

3 years ago:

"She's dead," Grayson whimpered as he cradled my limp body.
I couldn't move as I lay there, motionless.
"She's still breathing," Jameson tried to reassure his brother, but the older boy shoved him away.
"They're both dead!" Grayson yelled as tears rolled down his cheeks. "They're both gone."
Silence fell as I felt more presence around me.
"What do you mean they're both dead?" Jameson whispered as I felt him stand away from his older brother.
Grayson lay his head on my chest and sobbed even louder.
"Gray, what do you fucking mean they're both dead?" Jameson yelled as he pulled Grayson away from me.
"Malacey!" I heard Nash yell as his motorcycle roared as he came up the ramp and crashed onto the ground.
He ran over to me and I felt him kneel beside me. Nash, I wanted to say, but I couldn't move.
"What did you do to her?" the eldest Hawthorne brother yelled as he held me in his arms, his tears falling onto my face, mixing with the blood I felt dripping.
"Emily," Grayson sobbed as I heard him fall to the ground. "Emily's gone."

Suddenly, I was able to gasp in my breath and I heaved in air as I choked on it.
"Malacey," Nash sighed as he brushed hair away from my face and I opened my eyes. "It's alright, baby. You're good."

"Malacey," Grayson whimpered as he crawled over to me as I sat up in Nash's arms.
I winced and cried out as pain rang through my whole body.
"Baby," my 'boyfriend' tried to help me, but I pushed his hand away and turned into Nash's chest.
"Go away!" I screamed as I cried into Nash's arms.

Nash stood up from the ground with me cradled against him and I heard Grayson shuffle as he stood up too. He put his hand on my back to try and get me to talk to him but Nash swatted it away as he held me against him to protect her.

"Get away from her, you asshole," he sneered. "She needs to get help and she won't get any from you."
I cried against Nash's chest as he hugged me and rubbed my back. "I'll get you to a hospital, honey."
"Nash, please-" his brother tried to plead but he turned away from him.
"I know what you three did; you, Emily and Jamie," Nash said, disappointed, "you both knew what would happen, but none of you did anything to stop it. Look at what you've done to the girl who's pretty much our sister!"
"Emily's fucking dead, Nash, and all you care about right now is Malacey?" Jameson scoffed but immediately realised what he said. "Lace, I didn't mean it that way-"
"Take me away," I whimpered, huddling into Nash's jacket. "Never take me back. Please."
"Lacey," Jameson tried to say but Nash had already started to walk away.
"You don't know me anymore, Jameson, so I don't know you either. Goodbye, stranger."

"Hey, Lace," Jameson's voice came, snapping me out of the memory, making me realise where I had come to.
Somehow, I had managed to make my way up to Heights Country Day's rooftop garden without tripping up the stairs.
"Hmm," I hummed, regarding his presence as I wiped stray tears away from my face, swinging my legs under me on the small swing.
"You alright?" he said, trying to comfort me but all it did was make me go stiff and move away from him as he sat down on the swing next to me.
"Hmm," I hummed again, this time not so optimistic as I looked over the edge of the rooftop.
"You know that's way too low to jump from, right?" he tried to joke but it only made me choke on air and have tears spring to my eyes. "Hey, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that."
"Hmm," I hummed again, this time dismissingly as I rolled my eyes at him and wiped my eyes.
"Are you mute now, or are you trying to actively ignore me?" he smiled as he saw me smirk at him.
"Hmm."
"Hmm."
"Hmm."
"Hmmmmmm."
"..."
"..."
"Hmm."
"Well, I guess that's the end of this conversation then."
"Hmm."
Jameson got up from the swing and placed a few small objects on the swing where he sat.
"I know you haven't eaten anything yet, so eat," he said to me as he walked behind me and ruffled my hair. "And please don't think about jumping, Malacey."
I looked up at him and gave him a small smile, which he returned before walking away.
"I won't," I whispered, smiling into the distance.
I looked over beside me and saw a box of strawberry milk (my favourite flavour) and a small packet of scotch fingers (also my favourite).
"Strawberry milk and scotch fingers won't stop me from jumping, you know," I yelled into the distance behind me, knowing Jameson would hear me. "But then again, I guess you do know me, Winchester."

Author's Note:

Sorry for the late update! I got caught up with my work and I didn't have time to write.
At the top is the young Nash Westbrook Hawthorne (casted as Jared Padalecki) since this was a few years prior to the present time in the story. Also, I recently started watching Gilmore Girls for some reason (boredom) so yeah. Go watch Supernatural on the CW television network or on Stan(used to be on the WB). It has him in it and is a fantastic series.

Anyways, I've been writing my own story recently, so I wanted to know if you guys might want to read it when it is done.
With that, thank you for reading!
