Chapter 5

"I should go." Jessica said, snuggled into Lucifer's side on the sofa.

"Mmm, do you have to?" Lucifer said kissing her softly again.

"Chloe will be worried." Jessica says as if trying to convince herself more than him.

"Well, I suppose we shouldn't worry the Detective. At least let me drive you home." Lucifer sat up slightly causing an involuntary groan to come out of Jessica's mouth.

"As much as I would love to make more noises come out of that beautiful mouth, we really should get you home." Lucifer said although this time making no attempts to move.

"Yeah," Jessica breathed. "Maybe I'll tag along for the case tomorrow. I do miss solving crimes. I can just get my clearance sent along from London."

"Before I go though, I think we need to talk about this." She waved her hands around them. "What are we? Are we just friends at this point? Are we even that? Are you just kissing me because you feel like you have too? Mmm" She was cut off from her rambles by Lucifer's lips on hers again.

This time the kiss was deeper. He was clearly trying to show her something through this simple act, but really it just made her forget everything and enjoy the moment.

"We're much more than friends love. At least, I think we should be. Let's not label it yet. We have all the time in the world to put labels on it, let's just enjoy us." Lucifer said when they broke apart, this just put more questions in her head.

"I'm scared Lucifer. I have never felt like this for someone I have just met. I... I've never felt like this full stop. I don't want to lose this but I don't want to move too quickly either. What if you get bored of me? You've always been promiscuous, even Pierce knew that before he'd even met you!"

"Stop worrying. Yes, I've never had a committed relationship before but I'm a Devil of my word. I promise you Jessica that all the time we are exploring this and beyond that I am yours and only yours. If you later decide this isn't what you want that's fine but until then, I'll be completely faithful."

"Even if we don't put a label on it?" Jessica asked, suddenly shy again. Lucifer lifted her chin to look at him and he nodded.

"Even before we've put a label on it." Lucifer confirmed while making it clear that he wanted to put a label on it eventually. This reassured Jessica and she knelt up to leave a soft kiss on his lips. There was one more question on her mind though, what would they tell Chloe? As if reading her mind, Lucifer spoke.

"I think we should keep this between us though. At least for now, as much as I would love to scream from the rooftops for all to hear that you're mine, I don't want to put pressure on this before we're ready. It's new to both of us."

"I agree. Unless someone hits on you, I can't guarantee I will keep my claws to myself." They laughed as Lucifer quickly agreed that he would be doing the same if anyone so much as looked at Jessica the wrong way.

The drive home was silent, they both simply enjoyed each other's company and the warm breeze they felt in the open topped Corvette. With promises to see each other the next day they separated as Jessica walked up the path to the house she shared with her cousin.

"Well someone has cheered up."

"Jeez Chloe, you scared me." Jessica jumped as her cousin spoke from the darkness.

"Sorry. So, what or who has made you so happy." Chloe questioned, Jessica knew she couldn't lie to her cousin so she told half a truth just as she knew Lucifer would if asked directly - he couldn't lie after all.

"I found him. I found Samael, Chloe. We're going to give things a shot." Jessica grinned thinking of the numerous kisses her and Lucifer had shared.

"Wow! That's great Jess! Where does he live? Near here or further afield?" Chloe was digging and Jessica knew that so she gave limited answers.

"Near here but we don't want people to know yet as we're just exploring this ourselves. It's new to both of us, we're keeping it quite private. I'm going to bed, can I tag along tomorrow? Help with the case?" Jessica made it clear that the conversation was over as she walked towards the stairs.

"Sure, we could use your help." The two shared a smile before the younger Decker walked up the stairs, a certain Devil on her mind. Smiling to herself, she slipped into something more comfortable and fell into a dreamless sleep.
