FORTH
I could sense Beam's discomfort. He keeps fidgeting as I try the watches on his wrist. I remembered that Beam really likes wearing a watch. Whenever I see him he always has one and now that he is a Professional it is one of the most essential things to have. I wanted to see him wearing something I bought. Something that is a mark that will say he is mine. I called the shop in advance to showcase us watches that are best suited for doctors, and they would know that money is not an issue. I removed his current watch and decided to pick a rose gold one with leather straps. It looks good on his wrist. I looked at the shop assistant.
"This is a Patek Philippe Grand Complications. This manually-wound watch features day, month, leap year, and day or night indicators as well as a seconds subdial. It is a very nice choice, sir." The assistant instantly supplied.
Beam suddenly paled. Then carefully removed the watch from his wrist. He then put it on the box cushion.
"It is very nice. But I don't want to have a watch that I will be afraid to leave in the Operating Room locker." He said awkwardly while looking back and forth to me and the shop assistant.
"It's ok. We could always replace it." I touched his face as I ensure him. I could always give him anything he needs. Money is not a problem.
"No. I will not have a watch that cost a pair of kidneys and a liver," he said with finality.
I then leaned forward at the table and looked at the set of watches.
"How about a Daytona," I suggested.
"We have them in six colors. White, yellow, everose, oystersteel, oystersteel and yellow gold, and if course platinum." The assistant immediately listed.
"Rolex is uncomfortable to wear." Beam reasoned out. I looked at him hard. But before I could argue with him he sits up and faced me.
"I don't really need a new watch Forth. My watch is still good and it is what most medical professionals use." He explained to me.
"But I want to buy you a watch." I held his hand and brought them to my lips. He started to blush and tried to withdraw his hand, but I held it close.
"But...."
"I want to buy you a watch. And you would let me, right Darling." I looked him in the eye. I would not take 'no' for an answer. I always get what I want and Beam knows that. Beam sighed and looked at the table.
"Then can you remove all that cost beyond $5,000?" Beam requested the store assistant.
"I'm afraid that the table will be bare if we do that sir." The assistant smiled. Beam's eyes widen. Did he really expect that I will purchase something cheap for him? He still doesn't get it that I will give him everything that money can buy.
"Then remove the ones that are more expensive than the Rolex Daytona." I then suggested.
The assistants then removed the other watches.
"Please remove all the Rolex too." He then looked at me. "They really are uncomfortable." I wave my hand. They then started to remove them. I moved my hand to his waist and leaned back to the couch. I watch him contemplate on what to pick. He then pointed at a rose gold watch with dark brown leather straps. The assistant handed it to me and I put it on my Beam's wrist. It looks good and he looks good too because he is also blushing.
