                                          From the perspective of Qystampa

I lay there in bed. The sun had nearly risen, and the heat was once again searing all living things, yet every moment I lay there awake, the world seemed to be getting colder, and my worries stronger, and the situation with the humans more dire. Next to me lay Iridanadiri. She opened her eyes

She smiled "Morning."

"Morning." I sighed "I've been thinking."

"Oh?"

"We can't keep Areyesh in the dark forever, we are going to sooner or later have to tell her that...that she isn't really an elephant."

"We can't just tell her. How do you think she will feel?, to know that her whole life was a lie?, that her current family killed her actual mother?, that she lived her entire life believing she was another species?" As she said this, I suddenly saw her point "Twelve is too young to hear that sort of stuff."

I sighed "You are right. I just fear that by the time she knows her true identity, war will have already broke out."

She held me closer "Areyesh is a tough kid, but you still have to give her time."

                                                         From the Perspective of Maggie

I stood by the door, everything ready. Jamie was waiting there too. My dad was on the phone on the other room. I couldn't hear what was being said, but one could guess. Judging by the tone, its the same news that he heard time and time again, elephants being sighted closer and closer to Newpoint.

By this time during the day, Rod had already left on most days. Dad suddenly put down the phone.

"Maggie." He called, as he walked in to the room "Elephants from Noruh have been sighted just outside the border of Newpoint. I worry for you." He passed me a gun "Use this to protect yourself."

I just looked blankly at the gun "What the fuck?!, I'm not going to shoot any elephants."

He sighed "If you don't shoot them, you'll be dead within a few seconds."

"I doubt that I will find myself in a situation where I'll need it."

"Look" He said firmly "Whatever the fuck your politics, I have seen elephants slaughter young women before, even if you believe not all of them are like that, there is no doubting some are. And couldn't you just take the gun to protect Jamie?, I'm sure there are plenty of Elephants happy to kidnap him."

"This is a fucked up situation...Fine I'll take the gun

He then turned to Jamie "Now listen Jamie, it's very dangerous out, so when you finish school, I want you to wait by the school for Maggie. Don't go wandering off on your own like you normally do. Is that ok?"

Jamie looked absent. He was well aware that he was just asked a question, but his mind was focused on other things. He could not focus any of his attention trying to comprehend the question. Instead he simply said, in a way almost beyond his control "Ok"

We began heading out the door.

Newpoint was a fairly small town, and therefore the school was quite simplistic. It was the kind which was only really set up due to laws put forward by the United Nations regarding extraterrestrial colonies. It was a simple three story building, elementary on the bottom floor, middle school on the second and high school on the highest.

I walked through the coridoors, those that I was all too familiar with. I saw Wren walking in the distance. Everything about her was just perfect. I smiled at her
