I knew that the likeliness of me dying an early death was high, I had a high risk job, especially being a field agent. Everytime we go on a case we risk our lives. Anytime I live while having this job my life was at risk. So I knew this job was more likely than not gonna kill me. I knew it. But just not like this. Not in such a tragic way. In such a heart wrenching horrible way. Learning you only have a year to live does something to a person. What it is, they decide.

I could remember the morning I thought something was wrong. It was so clear in my head. I had woken up at 5:33AM to a call and I remembered the nausea that washed over me as I opened my eyes, grabbing my phone roughly as I was kinda annoyed as it was too early. I hoped it wasn't a case. We had just finished one up and it was exhausting. I needed a week to recover at least. Though something in my head told me it wasn't a case and I had really hoped it to be true.

"This is Agent Y/n Y/l/n speaking." I mumbled groggily as I answered the phone, tiredness evident behind my words. "Hey!" Aaron voice flowed through the phone and I perked a bit at the sound of his voice. He seemed a bit too cheerful for it to be about a case, thankfully. "Oh hi, good morning?" I mumbled, confused on why he was calling me at such a time. It was far too early to be awake right now, maybe he couldn't sleep? Though he didn't peg me as a guy who would call others when he had trouble sleeping. He's closed off on stuff like that.

"I was gonna go for a bike ride and I was wondering if uh maybe.. you'd like to join me?" He asked, more softly and I sat up a bit, checking the time confused before I brought my attention back to the phone. "I don't have a bike.. it's early are you alright Hotch?" I asked with a chuckle. We didn't have to be at work I'll 8AM, whats the point of getting up so early? "Well maybe a run then?" He asks, hopeful and I couldn't fight off the slight smile that made it's way to my face at his persistence. Maybe he needs to talk to me about something? From his tone of voice I'm assuming nothing bad. At least I had hoped so.

"Uhh, sure let me get ready." I say, throwing the covers off myself, stretching a bit as my feet hit the ground. "I'll be there to pick you up in 15, Y/n." He said before hanging up and I smiled to myself as I put my phone down. I got changed into a short sleeve shirt and leggings, it was still dark out so I assumed it wasn't too hot out yet. I didn't want to be freezing while running. As I was putting my shirt on a wave of dizziness had hit me and I stumbled as I steadied myself on my doorframe, stopping and leaning my head against the doorframe as I waited for it to pass before I finsished dressing. I ultimately brushed it off as being dizzy from not eating yet.

I did my hair, pulling it up and put of my face, getting a quick breakfast before brushing my teeth. As I was putting my shoes on, I heard a knock on my door and I stood up, shaking off the nausea as I walked over to greet Aaron, who looked a bit cheery then someone should be for being up so early. I was still tired, but I enjoyed Aaron's company, and with work we didn't get to hang out as much as I'd like to. So all in all I truly didn't mind. It was nice actually, for him to ask me to go on a run with him. Even if it was way too early for my liking.

"Morning." I mumbled and I noticed him offer a quick smile at my still tired voice. "Haven't fully woken up?" He asked softly and I offered a sleepy smile with a nod. "The run should." I say playfully and he nodded, smiling softly and I couldn't help but smile back at him. I locked up my apartment and followed him to his car, smirking at the never ending smile upon the other mans face. I never seen him so happy I wonder what's up with him? The car ride was quiet and short, but not like an awkward tense quiet. Just a soft contentness that carried out the whole way. It was nice actually.

When we got to the park he handed me a water bottle as we got out and I took a sip before we stretched. "I never been to this park but we could run through the main path and up to the hills of the park and back?" He asked and I looked up at him with a nod. "Yeah. I'll race ya." I say and suddenly took off. I heard a distant "Y/n!" followed by a laugh, and eventually he caught up with me, running besides me. He gave me a look and I couldn't help but laugh, trying not to mess up my breathing.
