Lily Metto's POV
—
My room was warmer than usual, checking the temperature would reveal it to be around 73°F in the small room I call mine. The weather had been continuously getting warmer over the past few days, but today the sky was overcast and hot, not the ideal go outside and play weather.
So here I am, laying in my bed and staring at the ceiling. It's kind of like looking at clouds, but instead of the tell-tale white puffs in the sky, it's the small divots on the ceiling. One moment I could see a horse, then I looked away and looked back, and saw a whale in its place. I do this to pass the time every once and a while, because it never gets boring, even looking at the same spot you can see five different types of animals.
The hum of the gentle breeze was drowned out by the beat of the song I had playing on repeat. I enjoyed the artist 'Glass Animals', and I had this one song on, the chorus was so catchy, how could I not? I start to hum along, knowing that the song would be stuck in my head by the time I eventually turn it off.
Then I hear the front door opening downstairs, which is confusing, since both my parents are home, and I wasn't informed of any guests coming over. I don't really have any friends here, we had moved about a month ago, and I am homeschooled, so I haven't met many people here. Do that means whoever is here has to be someone my parents know.
"Lily! Come down here, your aunts are here!" I could hear my mom's muffled voice from downstairs. I instantly lit up, I haven't seen my aunts since we moved!
Despite being happy about my aunts being here, I still groaned while dragging myself out from my bed. I turned off the music as well, and sure enough, I could hear the tune along with "Pineapples are in my head-" in the back of my mind.
I dusted my black skinny jeans off, even though there was nothing to dust off, and I straightened my long sleeved shirt, which was a dark teal colour. I walked out of my room and started going down the stairs, tucking a loose strand of strawberry blonde hair behind my ear.
I slightly stumbled in my rush, and clung to the railing, I never had good balance, apparently I had hurt my ankle when I was little and it caused long lasting affects ok my balance. I continued the rest of the way down the stairs and walked past the kitchen, and found myself in the living room with my mom, dad, and aunts.
"Lily!! You've grown!" Aunt Christie exclaimed upon seeing me, her arms spread out in a welcoming manor, obviously looking for a hug.
I ran up to her and gave her the hug she was looking for, while mumbling, "It's only been a month, Christie."
"We know, but still! We're used to living with you, I can't believe it's been an entire month!" Aunt Marietta replied. Both of them have always been really upbeat and borderline clingy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
"Lily," My dad started, I could hear it in his voice, it was something important. I pulled away from my aunt's embrace and turned around, facing my father. "The reason your aunts came by, was to ask you if you wanted to stay with them in their new house. Your mom and I didn't want to decide for you, but we are ok with you going."
"Hmm," I thought for a moment, before answering with a question. "How long would I be staying?"
"Well, we were planning for two weeks, but we're ok with you staying for up to a month if you want!" Christie told me.
I looked down, that's quite a bit for a trip, but it's not like I'm leaving much stuff here. I don't have friends here yet, I'd really only be leaving my parents and..
"Can I bring Jerrie?" I asked, looking at both my aunts and my parents at the same time. My parents shared a look, and my mom opened her mouth to speak, but aunt Marrietta was quicker.
