"Okay ladies you have an hour to pack your things and head to your dedicated buses, good luck" Nurse Crawly announced to the crowd of assistant nurses and nurses gathered together in the mess hall

(mess hall = cafeteria (sorry I thought mess hall sounded better lol))

Today was our last day of training and we were sent to take our orders in the mess hall. Throughout our week and a half of training we underwent, basic first aid, recognition of certain injuries, how to treat each predicted wound, even some physical training. We'd go for short runs, some small pointers of self defence, and were taught how to use a small handgun, just in case we ever needed to use one in the future. I really hoped we wouldn't have to use one anytime soon.

The sound of screeching chairs against the cement floor was heard as all ladies stood to exit and head to our rooms to pack. Each head nurse was assigned a group of junior and assistant nurses to bring with them to medical camps. Myself, Everly, Liliana, Aurora, Scarlet and a few other women were assigned to work alongside head nurse Crawley. We'd be heading to a neutral medical camp called Mount Nort. It is to the north of the country's border, located at the base of one of the many mountains, it is also an estimated two hour bus ride from this facility camp.

The girls and I headed back to our shared room to pack our things, which were pretty much the same things we brought here plus a few extra books, notes and our uniforms.

I took the things off my little bedside night stand and placed them atop my clothes in my case. One was an old black and white photo of my family, we all stood alongside each other. Myself standing beside my mother, alongside her my father and lastly Charlie beside him. This photo was taken a few years ago, all of us were smiling in front of our house, taking a simple family photo.

Next thing I placed away was a hair clip given to me by my mother, she told me it'd help to keep my hair out of my face while I worked and tended to the soldiers. It was a long silver hair clip, with tiny grey flowers on it, I believe it used to be hers and I am glad that I got a chance to wear it too. I put away a few other things like my hair brush, pencils, and blank paper, that I'd hope to use soon if someone would get back to me *mental huff*.

Last was a simple string bracelet made and given to me by Charlie. He was always good at tying rope knots and found a way to make this pretty bracelet. The string is red tied in a braid like manner and woven into it was a small gold stained heart charm. I don't know how or where Charlie learned how to make bracelets let alone add a charm to it but I'm glad he figured it out. I slide the bracelet onto my wrist planning to never take it off from now on. My hand flinches reaching up to fidget with my locket, a small reminder of my memories before the war.

"Hey Eliza, you ready to go?" Scarlet asks, while the rest of the girls start to put their shoes on by door.
"Yup, coming" I reply, closing my case and doing a final scan of my night table, assuring I haven't left anything behind, then head to the door to put on my black flats.

When Scarlet and I enter the hall Liliana is speaking with Aurora,
"Do you have everything Aurora?"
"For the millionth time Lil Yes I have everything" Aurora huffs
"Okay, just double checking" Liliana states but everyone freezes when the smallest hint of doubt crosses Aurora
"...ahh can we hold on for one sec, I just gotta, um, be right back" Aurora scrambles back through our room door
Each girl shares an eye roll and Scarlet slaps a hand to her face while she shakes her head.
"Hehe sorry about that just left my hair brush on my bedside" Aurora states exiting the room, that is no longer ours.
"Oh Aurora" Everly laughs wrapping an arm around her shoulders. We all chuckled to ourselves as we headed down the hall towards the doors to exit the building.

Our group headed towards the line of buses and clusters of women. Some soldiers wandered around the area, talking amongst themselves and to some of the nurses. There was a row of buses lined up with simple numbers and locations marking each one. I started reading the location of each bus searching for ours, too little too late apparently.
