Eliana POV:

I am woken up by the sound of Anna's morning greetings, still thinking about yesterday's event. She wakes me up everyday and helps me get ready.

Anna is pretty close to what you can call a best friend to me, even though there's a huge age gap between us. I've never had someone this close, excpet my brother, who now he hardly ever has time for me due to all his duties as the next king. Despite the fact that Anna works for me as a maid, she means so much to me. And by that, I am not referring to the things a maid does, like getting me dressed, bathing me etc., no, I mean talking to me, having fun and laughing with me and cheering me up when I feel down.

To be honest, she is more like a mother to me, than my real biological one. I can't really talk freely to her, as I suppose one does with their mother. Sometimes, it really seems like she genuinely cares for me,  but in reality it's just her wanting to be nice to me, since I'm still her daughter,  because as soon as I tell her something's wrong, it doesn't matter to her and she tells me to come up with a solution by myself.

I don't want to complain about my life, since so so many others have it way worse, but being a princess isn't that fun. I'm not allowed to leave the castle, i barely know people my age, i'm bored all the time. It feels like being locked up in a prison.

Every time we visit schools or other public places to attend some interviews or charity events, I see all these children and teenagers having friends and fun and simply being  free, meanwhile I always have to force a smile on my face for the camera, masking my genuine emotions.

One may think, my life isn't tough at all, but it also isn't easy and wonderful, like the media portrays it.

Meanwhile Anna's brushing my hair and getting me ready, we usually chat, laugh and share gossip about some of the employees at the palace and other royal members. But not today. I recount my encounter with Mattheo, and that I don't understand how I got lost in his eyes and didn't hate him for a second.

"You know, Eliana, maybe  you two can be friends and like each other, at least only a little bit. Why do you hate him actually?", Anna asks. I tell her that I don't know. He is that kind of guy that has ladies falling head over heels for him, always hooking up with different ones every day, and he's so full of himself. "I can't get myself to like people like him. They don't care about anything but themselves.", I utter, kind of disappointed. "But you don't even know him that well to be certain about such things , do you?, she asks, lifting an eyebrow and looking directly at the reflection of me in the mirror. I let out a small, sarcastic laugh, "Well I'm not planning on getting to know him better. No chance."

After I'm dressed, I head down to the dining hall to eat my breakfast. As it was Adam's birthday yesterday, my whole family eats breakfast together. This is not an often occurance considering I like to sleep long and my parents usually gets up early in the morning.

My brother was talking about his future plans and what he's going to do in the next weeks. Considering my interest for this topic being very little, I quickly get lost in my thoughts.

Mattheo's eyes is haunting me. They had never looked like this before, or at least, I  didn't perceive them as such. His green eyes, sprakling like dew in the morning sun, with a little hint of brown, looking like a pot of honey.

"Eliana?", I hear my mothers voice snapping me back to reality, away from those ravishing eyes.

"Eliana, are you feeling  better, my dear? You left so urgently yesterday, you made me kind of  worried.", she says, looking at me. "Uhm, yes yes, of course, mother. It was probably just some magraine or something. I'm fine now, thank you.",  I tell, hoping she won't ask any further questions regarding my faked illness.

Fortunately, she doesn't. She goes right back to talking to my brother and his wife, not really acknowledging me anymore. This time I listen closely to their conversation meanwhile finishing my breakfast. I stay seated for a few minutes, waiting for everyone to finish eating to make my way upstairs to my room again.

As a left  he the dinning hall,  I hear a voice shout my name from behind me. I turn around to see Adam rushing towards me, saying my name repeatedly.

"Hey, Eliana, is everything okay? You look so concerned and stiff.", he asks, studying  my face.  "Well, yes. No, I don't know.",  I say, letting out a sigh. "You know, you can always talk to me, what's wrong? Did something happen? Perhaps with mother or father?"

The moment I wanted to answer, and tell him everything about Mattheo, I see father stepping out of the room, commanding Adam to come with him to his office to  talk about something very important. Future king business, as always, I assume.

He says a quick goodbye to me, and reassures we can talk about it later and scurries to catch up with father.

Melancholy I return to my room, a little bit sad, because I never get the chance to spend time with my brother anymore.
