We drove up to my house.
The lights were on, and I could hear my parents laughing with their friends even from inside the car.
They were clearly drunk and when they were with their friends, they were even worse. They would get pissed if I showed up drunk while their friends were home.
"Shit.." I cursed, under my breath.
"Everything okay?"
"Um yeah, I just didn't expect them to still be awake,"
I got out of the car, as the tension was too thick to wait in there. Matteo looked at me through the car window. I knew he could tell that I didn't want to go inside.
"Thanks for the ride,"
he nodded. He started the car while I still stood in place, preparing myself to go inside.
He was about to drive out of the driveway, but his car came to a stop. I turned around, confused.
"You sure you're okay?" he asked, leaning out of the window,
My hands went to my hips, "I told you yes."
"You don't seem fine,"
"I'm FINE."
"Jeez woman, I was just going to ask if you needed a place to stay over,"
I scoffed, "Oh yes, because sleeping with you will help all of my problems!" I said sarcastically.
"I don't want to sleep with you... but since you want to so bad," I could practically hear his smirk from across the driveway.
"Fucking perv!"
All of a sudden, the front door opened and my mom stood staring at me.
"Thea? What the hell are you doing?"
"shit, shit, shit,"
I ran towards Matteo's car, hoping to escape my mother.
I tugged on the passenger seat door, but it was unfortunately locked, "Matteo! unlock the damn door!"
"What the hell Thea? What's wrong?" he asked, reaching over to unlock the car door.
"I'll explain, just let me in!"
"THEA GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE," My mother said in a harsh whisper, trying not to disturb her guests.
The door finally unlocked and I jumped inside.
"STEP ON IT!"
He gave me a look of confusion but started to pull out of the driveway.
I watched my mom fix her dress and her hair, before returning to her party as nothing had just happened.
I didn't explain my reasoning to him, and I'm glad that he didn't make me explain either.
The car ride was quiet, and the tension was still fuming, but I'm glad he offered to take me in.
I had just realized that he had been the first boy of the night that didn't want to sleep with me when they offered to take me home.
I felt safe with Matteo.
I probably shouldn't feel this safe, because it seems all we do so far is fight, but it seems that he understands me.
I woke up in Matteo's bed.
Shit.
I was in a t-shirt and sweatpants.
Shit. Shit.
