It was now quarter to 12, Blake had made himself comfortable on the chaise, paying attention to the t.v that was showcasing Avengers: Age Of Ultron. The storm still hadn't seemed to have died down, with the heavy winds whistling against the windows to the pattering of rain against the glass panes and the spontaneous beam of lightning brightening the features on his face to the smallest spec.
The day's events had taken a toll.
A small sigh escaped past my lips as the exhaustion from the day had taken over my body.
"So who would you say, is your favourite?"
"hmm?", mumbled as I turned my attention to the man who was sitting in my living room as I escaped the small world I had momentarily inhabited for myself.
"The movie, Victoria", he spoke lifting the corners of his mouth, aware that he caught me in my state of absence.
"oh right, yes the movie," I hummed as I shifted my focus onto the screen," I would have to go with Steve"
"Steve, you say?" Blake said with every ounce of curiosity," Why might that be?"
I now had turned towards him, "Well despite the fact that he's played by Chris Evans, it's his admiration for what he does and how he's found home in his work since he never really knew of anything else."
"well that's one way to view him"
"I mean it's not his fault really, everything got taken away from him in a way ."
I knew that I had Blake's utmost attention now as he listened attentively to each word and syllable that had seemed to leave my mouth, even though it was nothing more than amusement to him. The movie had only now seemed like white noise to our conversation, filling the silence.
"you can't be defending the poor man? It's like you know him like the back of your hand" Bake questioned, wanting to know more.
"Well when you sit alone in your room with not much to do and get your hands on a few books, ya learn some stuff.", I took a breath and slightly smiled at him before continuing", were you ever into the comics?"
"eh, they were something I would brouse but I never got into, not as much as yourself by the looks of it" he teased.
A calming aura took over the atmosphere, completely juxtaposing that of the world just outside the window.
"I mean living in a small town, you were bound with limiting options Mr de Luca. I doubt you could have a fun childhood there" I joked. Blake seemed to have taken it the wrong way though.
His eyes had lost that slight sparkle they had held moments ago they slightly squinted as if he was recalling a past memory, and then they slightly widened in fear of what he remembered. But then, and only when his saga was over, he turned back to me and chuckled, in fear of his facade slipping away, and disregarded the past about 15 seconds as if they never happened.
"I never actually did much, believe it or not."
"oh really", I encouraged," now what did this great Blake De Luca do as a baby."
"Great? Well that's quite an expectation to hold me to Miss Montgomery" my eyes widened
"You- You actually know my name!" I exclaimed in utter and absolute shock at this new information and voiced my feelings.
"Of course I do, you sit in front of me in Business, you can't expect me to not acknowledge the Girl with the raven hair, can you?" he hummed
"well-well no, I guess not. But still... How? Why? What-" I stumbled on the mere thought of Blake actually knowing who I was.
"While you're having a hard time processing the smallest fact about me knowing your name, we're missing the movie"
"right yeah. I never really knew who your favourite was" I wondered, still mildly flustered
"was that a question or a statement?"
"how about both?"
"well then, surprisingly enough, I would say Steve too. But my reasons would be different."
"Do I really want to know?"
"well, that depends" He edged me on
"well get to it blake, the sun's rising at this rate"
"Perhaps," he shrugged, "But it all depends on if you would want to hear me waffle on and on and on about steves character or we could actually, finally watch this damn movie in peace," he concluded with a smirk on his face.
"whatever his majesty wants" I laughed while throwing a pillow at his face
"If you really want something, victoria, nothing can get in the way of you figuring it out." he lastly told me before finally setting his eyes back onto the t.v in front of us, killing the previous light-hearted state I was in.
And with that, I finally turned my attention back to what was and still is the white noise, understanding that even though we're two strangers who conceivably have shared too much than was necessary, we were similar in many ways.
Let it be sharing the same interest in comic book characters or having the same morbid view of the world. From that short but informative conversation, we both sat with our minds dwelling on questions about the other person, eager to know more about them.
Because at the end of the day, what could be even more interesting than someone who seems so similar yet extremely different.
With the acknowledged rain pitter-pattering upon the tall windows and the buzz coming from the room of 17C there sat two individuals who knew nothing and yet could infer everything about one another. even though it is repeated countless times on the information they knew about one another, the endless time, precious time, they would spend could uncover so much more then what a single conversation may intell.
