Eva's POV

I rush to the door as the doorbell rings and open the door. "Hello-" I stop abruptly. In front of me, Hal is staring at me. I open the door wider. "Um, Come on in Hal," I say. Hal steps into my house and looks all around. Is he assessing his surroundings to steal? Does he still do that?  I don't feel comfortable with him now that I know he's a thief. "Nice house," is all he says. I nod. "Let's go to my room," I say. I walk up the stairs and Hal follows me. I reach for my door handle and open the door. I walk in and sit on my bed. Hal just stands in the doorway, looking at my bedroom, from the bright blue walls and my bed. "Hal? Why are you just standing there?" I ask when the silence starts to unnerve me. Hal looks at me. "What?" He asks. Did he not know he was allowed to come in here? I pat a spot next to me on my bed. "Come on Hal." Hal blinks in surprise and walks into my room. He sits on my bed, as far away from me as possible. Suit yourself. "So... what should we do for the project?" I ask. Hal shrugs. "It's a community service project. What can we do?" He asks. "Well I mean we could be pet-sitters for our neighbors I guess," I say. "No, I don't think so. How about tutoring instead?" Hal suggests. "That could work," I say. "Ok so who can we tutor? Do you know anybody?" Hal asks. I nod. "Yes, we've got Rose Danis and Elliot Walters," I start. "Elliot is Mary Ann Walters' little brother right?" Hal asks. I nod. "Yes. And I think we've also got Peyton McLians." I say. Hal's face darkens. "Let's not do Peyton." "Why?" Hal glares at me. "Tristan is the school bully isn't he?" He asks. "Well... yes but I'm sure he isn't so bad to stop us from tutoring his brother. Plus I don't think Tristan would hurt me because I feel like bullying me is not his intent. I'm not sure what is though," I say. Hal shakes his head. "I'm not doing Peyton," he says firmly. "Ok then. For now let's start with Elliot Walters." "So now?" Hal asks. I nod. "Mrs. Florence said if we figure out what we're going to do, we can start over the weekend if we want," I say. Hal shrugs. "I guess we can do it now I guess." I smile. "Come on, I'll take you to their house."
