A Phoenix Arrives in the Highlands

Chapter 1

*(Y/n)'s pov*

It's been about a week or so since I started living at Azusa's house in the highlands and so far I have to admit that this slow paced life is really relaxing though I must admit I'm still a little bored, however what I didn't know is that my boredom would wind up being the least of my worries. "Hey why has it gotten so dark all of a sudden? There's barely been any clouds in the sky!" I heard Flatorte say. Flatorte is a dragon like Laika but instead of her being a red dragon she's a blue dragon and has horns and a tail in her human form. I look towards the window from the couch where I was currently reading a book and sure enough it sure has gotten darker outside like something was blocking the sun. A minute later there was a knocking on the door I started having a bad feeling. Something large is blocking the sun. That can only mean one thing! I thought to myself as I realized who has shown up. Laika opened the door and looked at the visitor's to this house. "Oh the demon king is here. I'll let Lady Azusa know!" Laika said and when I heard the words demon king I immediately made myself scarce and hid from her.

Demon King Pecora and Me aren't exactly enemies of each other. In fact we actually have a quite friendly relationship with each other but if she knew I was here then she'd wind up getting me involved in her whims that can be quite random and out there and that's something I'd rather avoid right now. From my hiding spot I could see that Laika let them into the house and were sitting on the couches waiting for Laika to return with Azusa. I saw Falfa and Shalsha walking into the room they were in to greet them and my heart sank when I saw what they were holding. "Hello Beezlebub! Hello Pecora!" Falfa said smiling at the two while holding a feather in her hands. "Hello Falfa, say what is that in your hand?" Beezlebub said glancing at the feather. "It's a feather from a Phoenix!" She said excitedly. "A phoenix feather!? My that's very rare! Where did you find it?" Pecora said and Falfa smiled. "We didn't find them they were  given to us by our new friend (Y/n)!" Falfa said and I sighed knowing I won't be able to stay hidden. So I started heading over.

Beezlebub and Pecora looked at Falfa and Shalsha quite surprised by this. "(Y/n) is here? I didn't think they'd be interested in a place like this!" Beezlebub said and Shalsha and Falfa tilted their heads. "You know (Y/n) Beezlebub?" Shalsha asked her and Beezlebub nodded. "Yes. In fact he's a friend of both mine and her majesty." Beezlebub added. "That's really cool! How long have you guys known each other?" Falfa asked smiling. "I'd say about 1,200 to 1,300 years now." I said and they all look at me and Pecora smiled at me and instantly moved to stand next to me. "(Y/n)!! It's so good to see you!" She said hugging my arm. I looked at Beezlebub and the two leviathans that came here with them. One of them was most likely the one who they came here on. "Hey Beezlebub, Fatla, and Vania." I said greeting the three of them while ignoring Pecora. They smiled and returned my greeting but also ignoring the fact I ignored Pecora as this is quite a usual encounter for us by now. Pecora pouts and looks up at me. "Hey (Y/n)! You're ignoring me again!?" Pecora said pouting at me. She can be really cute at times! I thought to myself. "So Mr. (Y/n) are you living here now?" Fatla asked me and I nodded. "Yeah I'm staying here for a bit. Haven't decided on how long yet." I replied and they nodded. 

"I see, Well for someone like you this place sure does fit you!" Beezlebub said with a smile and I nodded. By now though Pecora was getting really irritated with me ignoring her so I look at her. "So Pecora what brings you to this humble house in the highlands?" I asked her and she perks up when I finally give her attention. "Oh my subordinates and I came to visit my big sis Azusa!" She said smiling. "Big sis?" I said my thought out loud. "Yes!" Pecora said smiling. "*Sigh* Yeah when I was in the Demon kingdom to receive an award Pecora decided to ask me to be her big sis." I heard Azusa say and I looked over to where her, Laika, an elf named Halkara, and Flatorte were standing. A ghost that lives with Azusa named Rosalie was floating above them as well. "I see. Sounds exactly like something she'd do." I said and Azusa nodded in agreement. "So what kind of relationship do you have with her?" Azusa asked and I looked at her. "She asked me to be her boyfriend. Though it's more in name as she is really shy and has never wanted to kiss me." I said. "You didn't have to add all that (Y/n)!?" Pecora said covering her blushing face with her hands.

I chuckled softly and rubbed her head gently. Azusa walked over to me and leaned to whisper in my ear. "How did you get so good at dealing with her?" She asked me and I looked at her. "I'm not. I just know what buttons to push to get her off her game a little." I explained and she nodded in understanding. "So if you live here (Y/n), were you around when we showed up and that's why you came over?" Vania asked me and I shrugged. "Actually I was sitting on the couch when you guys showed up." I said and Vania raised an eyebrow. "Then where were you when we came inside?" She asked me confused. "Oh that's because I went to hide!" I said honestly and the three just nodded while Pecora pouted and glared at me. "You hid from me!?" She said in a cute way and I just simply nodded. "Yep!" I replied and she pouted more. "You're so mean!" She said as Laika walked over. "Has anyone ever told you that you're brutally honest at times (Y/n)?" Laika said and I nod. "I've heard that from time to time." I said to her and she nodded.
