Is this what they called-L’Appel du Vide, the call of the void? The unknown-the abyss that seems to be leading your soul to do something that will take your pain, and worries, away. And give you the temptation of heaven.

The girl thought, while looking at the endless, quiet sea laying mindlessly before her.

Going to this side of the road, Roxanne always had the thought of throwing everything away, and just jump.

But what good could that pointless action do? Nothing, it will not give her pleasure or happiness.

Just a lie that the devils whisper to humans who have nothing. Like her.

Lost in her thoughts until the sudden cold wind disrupts her abstraction, her black, long, straight hair fluttering back, Roxanne finally remembered where she was supposed to go.

School. A lot of people hate it, and would rather not go to that place. She used to hate it, but she comes to realize that it’s the only thing that distracts her. It’s different for her, someone who has nothing to do, no friends, no hobbies, and parents who doesn’t seem to exist but to be the sole reason of how she can survive and the people who brought her to this cruel word- which she didn’t ask for.

The school is a place that seems to be filling the void of her empty life. Barely.

It makes her busy, it distracts her from reality.

It was better than going to her house, and stare at the wall for how long she could stare for.

She sighed, and with light steps Roxanne made her way to her destination.

Thankfully, she wasn’t late. She quietly goes to her seat, to avoid having unnecessary attention drawn into her, but would the people even look at Roxanne? She’s like air, she’s there but it’s not like people need to look at her.

Her glazed amber eyes briefly scanned the room before falling into the window to look at the scenery before her.

The cold wind blows into her again, it felt nice. But the noisy murmurs of the people around her made the atmostphere less tranquillizing. She felt alone in a room full of people, but not lonely, since she chose this path.

I don’t need friends or anyone at all. Being alone for 2 more years is fine. It’s fine. She thought.

In attempt to distract herself, she was going to listen to some music, reaching out for her earphones, but before she could do, she caught the sight of her precious classmates attentively looking to a particular direction, which she couldn’t fully see because of the people crowding.

“Oh my god, he’s so handsome!” Roxanne heard the girls squirm.

Hearing that line, she lost interest and looked away.

5 minutes later, class started and the crowd disappeared causing her to finally take one good look at the person responsible of having such attention.

I see, that’s why.

He was handsome, no beautiful, charming with a face of a wolf hiding in a sheep clothing. His slightly curly black hair falling into his face, intriguing darkish blue eyes- that’s enough.

He seems like an ostentatious person. And I can see manipulativeness leaking out, I was always sensitive of those things. But who am I to judge him?

Breaking my needless thoughts away, the teacher looked at him, and spoke to the class.

“This is Damon Salamanca and he will be joining our class today.” I like his name, it seems strangely familiar though.

I hope he’ll make my boring school life a little bit more interesting.
