I woke to a big nose sniffing my face. The sun was shining brightly, as I shielded my eyes. I look at the thing that disturbed my sleep and see Shiloh, my horse, nibbling at my hair. I swat his nose away laughing.

"You woke me up Shiloh!" I playfully whined and sat up. "Your so lucky I love you though." I scratched his big forehead, standing up and grabbing the reins.

"Elizabeth! Elizabeth! Where are you?!" My mother yells my name, standing out side the house.

"Coming!" I yell back as I put my left foot in the stirrup hoisting myself up onto the saddle. "I tell ya Shiloh, she is one pestering woman.." I cluck as I tap his sides and Shiloh lopes off towards the house. "How bout we give her a scare?" I giggle as I kick his sides, making him accelerate faster. the ground flies beneath us as we get nearer to the house. My long brown hair whipping in my face. I see my mom ahead with her arms flailing as I abruptly stop in front of her, really close.

"Elizabeth June! Do not scare me like that! And why aren't your chores done?!" She crosses her arms as I dismount, laughing.

"I was just having fun this morning." she gives me a glare.

"You also have school soon this morning, AND CHORES!" I heave a sigh. I take off the saddle and bridle setting it on the porch.

"Come on mom! I was just having fun.." I lead Shiloh back into the pasture and my mom follows me in pursuit.

"Don't "come on mom' me! You were supposed to be doing your chores. Now I don't want to hear anymore of it! Get in the house and eat your breakfast. Your going to be late for school." I reply with a yes ma'am, and head inside.

"Get in trouble again?" My dad asks as I sit across from him.

"When don't I?" I groaned. He chuckles as he flips the newspaper to a new page.

"I swear! She is just as lazy as you, Frank!" My mom enters the room fussing over this morning. Dad and I both laugh a little and mom turns towards us and crosses her arms. "What's so funny?" We both just laugh and she huffs, "If you two don't straighten up then you won't have any breakfast. I mean it!" with that she turns on her heels and walks to the fridge.

"Somebody's cranky..." I whisper under my breath and my dad smiles behind the newspaper.

"Eat up! Before it gets a cold." she sets down a plate of food for my dad and hands me an egg sandwich. "Eat that Lizzy, then quickly grab your things for school." I nod as I take a bite out of my sandwich. Some of the toast was burnt which was on purpose for my behavior this morning. Gosh! That women needs to relax. Its not like I killed the farm for not doing my chores.

I quickly finish my breakfast and grab my light brown coat, and school bag. I switch out my dirt covered farm boots into my shiny clean school shoes.

"Have a good day and learn something." my mom kissed my on the forehead as I opened the door.

"I will. See ya!" I waved an stepped out into the warm summer breeze. I quickly shut the door and race off the front porch. Today will be a new fresh day.
