I walked into the hall and a gasp left my lips, the seats were filled with at least 30 reporters and majority of them are humans "now I'm wishing we didn't agree to live and meddle with humans".
My wolf nodded in agreement and I sighed. A decade ago, humans discovered about werewolves and got threathened by us; and to ensure the safety and peace of both species we signed a treaty to coexist peacefully with them. That led all the countries to having 2 residences; one for the werewolves and one for humans, and it has been a peaceful coexistence since then.
"It's time" My mum whispered to me and I broke out of my trance, I turned my head towards her and nodded with a smile. I walked up to the stage, the camera lights nearly blinding me but I played it off cool.
"Good day ladies and gentlemen" I spoke into the microphone with a graceful smile on my face
"Miss Johnson, were you truly rejected by your mate or was it a false scandal?" a human reporter who looks like he is in his late 30's asked before I could make a statement.
I smiled at him trying to keep my cool; I hate being interrupted "Well, I was getting to that" his face fell when I said that but I continued my speech anyway "I'll be making a full statement, revealing all I need to about this situation and I won't be entertaining any question after my statement. My lovelife isn't meant for the public's entertainment" the reporters tensed up as I spoke and that boosted my confidence.
"My mate didn't reject me" I stated; it honestly burnt my throat as I said that because I know that he would have "be strong Selene" Eliana whispered to me and I took a deep breath, continuing my speech with a smile. "All the rumors that spread about my mate rejecting me is false, that never happened. We might have caused a commotion inside the gala but that was simply a misunderstanding."
My confidence grew more as I kept talking "For the curious question going around, yes, Beta Drystan is my mate" a few gasps erupted from the reporters; I bet it's from the werewolf reporters "I'll also like to reveal that I will be moving to my mate's pack soon, I hope that puts an end to your questions. Thank you" I finished with a smile and walked off the podium.
"Selene.." my mum whispered shocked as soon as I walked over to her.
"I'll explain everything at home mum" I said, silently pleading with my eyes. She nodded and we both walked over to the car.
"Are you ready for the life you just started for us?" Eliana asked quietly and I sighed.
"I don't know Eliana, I honestly don't know" I took a deep breath, my throat burns from the unshed tears. Eliana didn't say a word after that, and I just stared out the mirror.
"Selene! How could you make such a statement?" My Dad asked the moment I walked in with my mum, he looked at me with fearful eyes and I just walked to one of the chairs and sat down.
"Mum and Dad, please sit down" I said calmly
"I'm not sitting down till you explain what just happened" my Dad shouted and I flinched, his expression softened when he saw me flinch.
"Just sit down please, I'll explain" he looked at my mum; who hasn't spoken a single word since we left the hall, they both walked over to the couch opposite mine and sat down.
"Mum, Dad" I called out and looked at the both of them "you both know I'll never make a decision without thinking about it thoroughly, right?" They both nodded their head slowly, I could see the tears welling up in my mum's eyes already.
"I made that decision right after thinking about it over and over again. Drystan didn't reject me, so logically speaking I'm still his mate, I've decided to travel to Canada and stay with him in his pack till I get a proper rejection or till he becomes a proper mate." I said and the tears started rolling down my mum's face, while my Dad kept a stoic face.
I immediately rushed to my mum and hugged her tightly, trying to keep my own tears in check.
"Princess" my dad called out softly, my heart skipped a beat when I heard the pain in his voice. I don't want to be the reason my parents are hurting so much
"Yes Dad" I answered as I pulled away from the hug.
"I trust your decision and I know you're strong enough to keep yourself safe. Alpha Derick wouldn't let harm come to you either in his pack" my dad said and my heart clenched tightly "we'll let you go" he said
"No! My daughter isn't going anywhere" my mum shouted almost immediately.
"Go pack your bags, I'll book the next flight to Canada" he said and I nodded.
"Didn't you hear me Reid? I said my daughter isn't going anywhere!" My mum shouted again, hitting my dad's chest. Dad immediately pulled her in for a hug while I ran up to my room, tearing up on my way.
I entered my room and cried my eyes out, I cried for a while before I wiped my eyes and pulled out my luggages that I already packed the previous day. I have three bags in total, the first one is my pink luggage; which contains my cloths.
The second is my black leather school bag; it contains my laptop, phone, chargers and some school file. The last bag is a duffle bag which contains my make-up.
I picked them up and stared at my room one last time before I left "I'm ready" I said to my parents, who were waiting for me in the living room.
"Your flight is in 50 minutes, let's go" my dad said and we entered the car, the driver picked up my luggages and kept them in the car boot.
"We are here" the driver said and opened the door for us, he pulled out my luggages for me and I meant to carry them when a hand stopped me. I looked up and saw Zen, he didn't say a single word and just picked up the luggages.
The four of us walked into the airport in silence, I did the necessary security check and walked to the plane for my flight.
"Kill him if you have to" Zen said seriously and I let out a little laugh, I walked up to him and hugged him tightly
"I'll miss you Zen"' I muttered and he nodded "I'll miss you too little one.
I hugged my Dad next and then my mum, who refused to let go till the intercom announced that the plane is ready to leave. She let go of me slowly and just looked at me with teary eyes, nothing was said between us two but everything was said.
The intercom announced the departure again and I ran into the plane without glancing back once, tears threatening to fall from my eyes again.
