Chapter 9
{sorry for any mistakes, not yet edited}
"-and then I trip, face planting in to the concrete" Jake finished his most embarrassing moment story and we laugh in unison. We are sitting in Prime 112, it's dark out our table bing lit by a chandelier above. "What about you, the beautiful, Adeline Fiore, what do you like to do in your free time?"
I take a drink of my water, "Well, I like to dancing, cheering leading, I've been doing it since I was 12 and reading. Though I don't have much time to these day" I shrug.
Jake smiles, and he's about to say something but the waiter interrupts us.
"Would you like an desert?" The guy asks
Jake turns to look at me, "What time do you need to be back?" He asks
"Um, nine."
He looks at his watch, "No were good thank you" He says to the waiter, "And for the last part of our date" Jake says to me and he rises.
I smile at him,"Theres more?"
He smirks and extends his hand, which I take.
---
"Thank you" Jake says to the girl handing him a cotton candy stick. "Here you do lovely lady" He hands me the cotton candy.
"Thank you" I playfully curtsy. We both laugh as we want further into the carnival.
It's load and there scream and laughters filling the night. Jake puts his arm around my shoulders and we make are way to fun sides.
---
"Thank you again Jake, I had an amazing time" Jake is parked outside the Rulli house. Jake smiles and starts to lean in. I'm not sure if I should stop him, I feel like I should. But I want to try to move on, Jakes a nice guy. His lips connect with mine. Only a tender, short kiss.
"Goodnight Adeline" He says and I smile.
I turn around and out his car. Once the gate closes I walk up the path to the house. It's exactly 9 when I walk through the door. I was startled. There was a shadow near the staircase. It was Brody. I closed the door.
"My Mom told me to wait for you," He said as a way of explanation to why he was there.
I nodded. I tried to make my way up the stairs fast but he snatched my wrist.
"Hey!" I protested, "let go." I say no trace of humor.
"Don't go out with him." He says. And I notice his face soften.
"What? Not this again." His still holding on my wrist, "You can't tell me what to do. Jake's such a sweet guy, and I actually think things might go well with him. So if you do me a favor and move so I can go rest." I fake a smile and try to go upstairs again.
He takes me by surprise and suddenly he smashes his lips on mine. The sweet feeling from his kiss is back. They're still so soft, and warm.
No he can't do this again
I place my hands on his chest and push him off."No" I say angrily. He looks stunned, his eyes are wide and his breathing is rushing, like mine.
"You don't get to do this again. You don't get to play with my feelings all you want Brody." And for some reason I feel tears threating to escape my eyes. I look at him once last time before I push him and run up the stairs.
When I get to his room I close the door behind him. I don't here him coming so I relax. And the tears come unwilling down my face.
I feel my phone vibrate from inside my purse. I dig until I find it. I swipe the screen. "Hello?" I says holding back tears.
