Hello all my followers! This fanfic was specifically requested by the wonderful @Venus988221! Here you go, and thank you for being so patient with me!
In this fanfiction, you are a Atlantean and the best friend to Princess Kida, who Milo falls for. This one shot is designed to encompass any pronouns and genders, because I've seen a lack of those type of stories in this fandom! I myself have multiple pronouns, and I get that struggle. Anyways, here is a key of shortened terms I'll use in this fanfic below, and please enjoy! Also, SPOILERS AHEAD!
Y/N- Your Name
G/I- Gender Identity

Your life had been one of boredom, plainness, and sheer lack of thrill in Atlantis. It was ironic, because of how much social status you possessed in the fallen empire. As the best friend and chief advisor to Princess Kida herself, your position should have granted you the privilege of fun and adventure, or at least some form of activity. But sadly for you, that wasn't the case. In your many years of life, all you had ever done was play by the waterside, swim, share gossip, and perform the same tasks of daily life like every other citizen of Atlantis did. It had been the exact same routine for as long as you could remember, with no straying from it, or anything new. While all of your friends fell in love and seemed to have dreams, you were left in a rut. Nobody your age was right for you—Y/N, the Royal Advisor—and they didn't appreciate your talents and gifts anyways. The only thing that really set you apart from others, was your ability to harness water. You had special powers, that could control any water or liquid. Nobody except Kida and your family knew this, however. You didn't want to be more of an outcast than you already were. Your dream was one of wanderlust, to go journeying into the world above and have the most wild time. To interact with the foreigners, and immerse yourself in every culture that wasn't your own. Was that so pretentious and demanding to ask for? You eventually accepted that you'd live the destiny of a single loner who never fit into your own society. You weren't ever going to be anything but a misfit. An adventurous, daring, G/I with more brains than most of the population. That was fine by you.

Until he came. It was a day like every single previous one of your life, bland and uneventful. You were down by the marketplace on the docks, filling your homemade reed basket with food for you and your family of three younger sisters and two little brothers. Your parents had died of sickness when you were a teenager, leaving you all alone to take care of them. And take care of them you did.
The food supply had been running alarmingly low in recent times, but you weren't too panicked just yet. Similar situations had happened before, and remaining calm was absolutely key, you'd learned. You and your siblings were fine, having enough to keep yourselves alive and healthy for months to come. There was nothing to fret over, in your mind, why would there be? When it did go downhill, you'd concocted a plan to prevent all of you from dying of starvation. So you smiled as you hummed a traditional Atlantean tune to yourself, placing ripe fruits and fresh bread into the basket. But suddenly, something caught your attention. It was Kida, striding towards you with a frenetic energy that you hadn't seen in years. Her eyes were bright with glee, and she called to you at the top of her lungs:
" Y/N! Come meet our guests! " what was she talking about? However, as soon as you laid eyes upon the group of strangers behind her, you knew that your life was about to change for the greater good.
They all captivated you, but not as much as Milo Thatch did. A scrawny, glasses-clad linguist with the cutest smile you'd ever seen, an odd tingling sensation coursed throughout your body. Your heart began to pound in your chest at breakneck speeds, your face growing a shade of red. Usually, you were composed, proper, and your thoughts were well put together. But introducing yourself had been a mess. You'd stammered and stuttered, shaking from your nerves.
" Hello, P/N Y/N! It's a pleasure to meet you. " he replied, shaking your hand with a platonic sweetness that made your legs feel like jelly. What was this feeling? It was both thrilling and terrifying, simultaneously. Despite your lack of experience, you two gravitated towards one another. This must have been fate, that was the only way this could be happening.

Sure enough, the more time you two spent together, the closer you became. He taught everything he knew, and told you all of his stories about his many journeys and expeditions in countries you'd dreamed of visiting. He was blown away by your abilities with water, he didn't think it was strange or frightening. Rather, it was an anomaly that was awesome, and he playfully envied. You two had many water fights and swims, and he allowed you to use your powers as much as you wanted. His energetic and nerdy aura was contagious, yet he still was mature, responsible, and respectful. He didn't push your boundaries or treat you and your family poorly once. You were falling fast for him, and he was too.
The crew of the Ulysses spent a full night in Atlantis, before Rourke and Helga's betrayal. The battle was long and frightening. Both of you nearly lost each other, that day. When he found you safe, he threw his arms around you in an embrace, and slammed his lips on yours in a kiss. You saw stars the entire time, kissing him back with all of your passion. He stroked your S/C cheeks, When you two had to separate for oxygen, he said:
" I love you, Y/N, please, be with me. I know I'm not good enough for somebody of your caliber, I do. But I love you, flaws and all. " you had placed a finger on his lips, tears streaming down your cheeks. He brushed your H/C locks behind one ear, staring into your eyes with such anxiety, it broke your heart.
" I love you too, you big nerd. I want to be with you, for the rest of my life. " you'd replied.
That was enough to bring you two together in romantic union, a power couple that all of Atlantis adored. When the time came for him decide whether or not he would return to the surface, he chose to stay with you without any hesitation. Wherever you wanted to go, he'd go. Though you wanted to see the world—you'd always wanted to—something had changed inside of you. Suddenly, you were content to be wherever, as long as it was with Milo. You couldn't leave Kida, your siblings, or your culture, even if you didn't want to. This was your home, and Atlantis needed you. What for, you had no clue, but you knew it would be wrong to abandon it.
So, you two remained there, a couple that couldn't be separated for anything, and with a love that people could only dream to have.

No longer were you a misfit, or a reject. No, you had a purpose, as the lover of Milo Thatch. Your life was now one of romance, brightness, and joy—and you never experienced boredom again.

I hope this was okay, I'm kind of having a writer's block right now, but this is what I came up with. Sorry if it's crappy, everyone!
