The hashiras were finally done with an elongated meeting that trailed on for what seemed like ages. All of them breathed a sigh of relief. Especially Tomioka-san. He was probably one of the most worn-out, having done paperwork all night. He's been scolded way too many times by the other Hashira about not doing that. Although, today the Hashira seemed a little too kind and it worried Giyuu a bit. Sanemi and Iguro are still the same though. Giyuu leaned his back up against a tree closing his eyes. It was peaceful, even with all the chatter. Giyuu heard somebody walking up to him and figured it might be Kocho but he opened his eyes anyway. Except, he was met with Rengoku-san, the Flame Hashira.
"Is something the matter Rengoku-San?" Tomioka asked in his usual monotone voice. A lot of the chatter died down as the other Hashira watched for some odd reason. Except for Sanemi. It worried Tomioka because knowing them, all of them paying attention to him meant something bad.
"Nothing much, but I did want to say something!" Rengoku said, voice still as loud as ever. Giyuu cocked his head to the side, curious. Although, he had an odd feeling about this.
"Your eyes are rather pretty, they are quite as beautiful as the ocean!" Rengoku said with a bright smirk on his face. Instead of Giyuu being unfazed like everyone thought would happen, his cheeks dusted a bright red and he lowered his head, the tips of his ears red. Sanemi looked over curious and smiled a bit at Giyuu's reaction. Everyone gasped at seeing Tomioka's reaction and smirked at each other while Sanemi looked at them a bit worried. Everybody went over to Giyuu and started complimenting things about him like his eyes, hair, and other features. Sanemi gained an irk mark on his forehead. He'd been harboring his feelings for the slightly smaller male for a while and though he thought that he didn't get jealous easily, that was proven wrong today. Even Iguro complimented Giyuu on his fighting technique. Giyuu was as red as a tomato by now and everyone was still finding little things to compliment him on. Sanemi quietly walked over to them and they looked over at him, smirking. He played it off and gave them a questioning expression.
"Ara ara~ Shinazugawa-san are you here to compliment Giyuu also?" Shinobu said, a knowing smirk on her face. Sanemi made an annoyed face and walked over to Giyuu and did the unthinkable.
He didn't compliment him.
He didn't yell at him.
He grabbed his hand and started leading Giyuu somewhere else. He heard the other Hashira gasp and 'ooo', but he couldn't bother to care. Giyuu's face was as red as the tips of Rengoku's hair. Sanemi quietly dragged Giyuu to a willow tree near Giyuu's estate. Sanemi huffed, easily showing how much he was annoyed at how the other Hashira interacted with Giyuu. Giyuu let out a soft chuckle, his face forming a smile. Sanemi turned around and swiftly pulled Giyuu into a hug, burying his face into Giyuu's hair. Giyuu's face was a dark maroon as he buried his face into the crook of Sanemi's neck. Giyuu closed his eyes, enjoying the warm embrace of Sanemi's hug. It felt safe to him and he couldn't get over how badly he was touch-starved. He chuckled a little bit, his laugh wasn't loud but it was loud enough for Sanemi to hear. For Sanemi, he'd describe Giyuu's laugh as melodic and soft. It wasn't easily heard, as he was a quiet person, but it wasn't undetectable either. The first time Giyuu had ever smiled, nobody noticed until Shinobu pointed it out and made a big deal out of it. The second time was today when Giyuu first laughed, but the only one who heard it was Sanemi, as it was earlier in the day when they were reading an old letter from someone that the Master wanted them to examine. Giyuu started to try and maneuver his way out of Sanemi's bear hug. Sanemi reluctantly let go and gave Giyuu a somewhat pouting face. Giyuu gave a small smile at Sanemi, grabbing his hand and lightly dragging him inside his estate, seeing as it was getting dark. Giyuu opened the door to his estate and placed his shoes at the entrance, Sanemi following his lead.
"There's a guest bedroom at the end of the hallway over there. You can start settling down there for tonight." Giyuu said, a pleasant smile on his face as he headed to his room in the estate. Sanemi just hummed in response and headed to the guest bedroom.
Once Giyuu finally got into his room he slumped down on his wall, hands covering his face. He was embarrassed for sure but he felt all warm and fuzzy inside. It startled him a bit because he didn't know what these feelings were. Giyuu got up and took off his haori, finally glad that the day was over, or near over at least. He walked over to the guest bedroom and knocked on the wall near the door. He heard a faint 'come in' and he opened the door to see Sanemi sitting down on the floor near the window. Giyuu quietly walked over to Sanemi and sat down next to him. Sanemi looked over with a questioning look and Giyuu just hummed and rested his head on Sanemi's shoulder. Sanemi looked over and smiled at Giyuu, ruffling his hair. Giyuu started drifting off to sleep after a while and his head started to slip off of Sanemi's shoulder. Sanemi looked over as Giyuu's head fell onto his lap. He jumped in surprise a bit, not moving the lower half of his body and having to try and calm down. He looked down at Giyuu's sleeping face and sighed.
"Idiot.." Sanemi mumbled. He scooped Giyuu up bridal style and brought him over to his futon for a more comfortable place to sleep. He smiled at Giyuu and started getting up to go to the living room when he was pulled backward. He landed with a small thump and looked to see Giyuu with a small smirk on his face. Sanemi gave a devilish smirk in return and Giyuu's face contorted into guiltiness. He mumbled a small 'oops.' before trying to hide under the covers. Sanemi grabbed Giyuu's hand, pulling him closer to him. Giyuu's face dusted a bright red and he pouted at Sanemi. Sanemi chuckled and snaked his arms around Giyuu's waist, pulling him into a tight embrace.
Giyuu snuggled closer to Sanemi's body, the heat radiating off of him was very calming to Giyuu, especially since he himself was always cold and shivering. The many blankets on the futon made it a lot comfier for the pair. Though Sanemi didn't mind cuddling with Giyuu, he hoped he didn't make Giyuu uncomfortable. In the presence of each other, a lot of things were calmer, less tense. It was weird honestly, they started off as practical enemies with how much they hated each other but as years passed and many missions passed where they were grouped, they learned how to work together and understand what the other needed. Even the slightest movements from the other could indicate something from the other.
Their likings were simple, Giyuu liked Sanemi's scars and white, fluffy hair. And Sanemi liked Giyuu's beautiful, alluring ocean eyes, soft hair, and smaller build(as it was nice to cuddle with him).
The night was quiet, the streams and rivers around the estate running, it was peaceful. While not openly admitting their feelings, both males seem to have gotten their point across.
