Chapter 5: Fighting for Cam

Kamden's POV:
21-14! We're winning! I've done great! Maybe those scouts think the same. Okay Kam, next play you can do it.

The play started and pressure was coming from the left so I did the only safe thing possible. I had to throw it. I sent it down field. Beautiful pass. I ran through, but just as I did I fell. Pain courses throughout me, my left leg feeling the most.

My coach rushed on the field to my side. "Left leg. Can you move it at all?" He asked.

"What kind of question is that?! No I can't move it!" I yelled, then whimpered.

"I need an ambulance here stat. He's done." He told a man. The man walked away quickly. Coach looked down them at me. "Son, you've played an amazing game, but you're done today. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I know how much this game meant to you. We'll be thinking about you."

"Thank you coach, for everything. Just know I didn't quit on you." I said managing to get the words out before the paramedics loaded me into the gurney to the hospital. Camerella was by my side in the ambulance. She had tears in her eyes. She grabbed my hand and held it tightly. She kissed my cheek and hugged me.

"You'll be okay sweetie, I promise. I've called you mom and she's meeting us at the hospital. I love you. This doesn't mean it's over. Please don't think that." She said trying to comfort me.

"Make it stop hurting please. That's all I ask. I love you. I just want to protect you, you have to stay with me so I can keep you safe." I whispered to him before I blacked out.

Camerella's POV:

"He has been out a week, please tell me he isn't..." I couldn't finish my thoughts. It was to horrible to think. Many memories had been brought back from standing in this hospital.

"We are trying our best. But, some things have came up that we weren't expecting. He's gone into a coma." The doctor said and my heat sank to the ground.

"He'll wake up right?" This had already happened once. It can't happen again.

"We aren't so sure this time Sometime during the knee injury occurrence in the game an additional injury came of that. We presume that Mr. umm... Kamden is it? We have reason to believe that someone collided with him and the impact of that has given him a very critical head injury. His brain is starting to bleed which is causing the coma. The coma, as you know is an indefinite, possibly terminal ordeal. This is a life threatening situation and we will do everything in our power to save him." He reassured me.

I put my head in my hands. I lifted my head after a few minutes of crying and looked at Kamden through the small window to see him sleeping so peacefully. You couldn't even tell that he was in such bad shape. "Please let me talk to him. Maybe I can wake him up. Please." I begged, hoping he would approve.

"Fine, but only because it's a proven study that coma patients are more likely to wake up when a loved one is talking to them." He turned towards Kamden and opened the door for me.

"Thank you so much!" I said as tears fell form my eyes again. I speed walked over to the side of his bed and carefully sat next to him. " Hey sweetheart. I know you can hear me. We'll get through this." I paused for a while. Silence filled the air. "And when we do, we'll have that perfect sunset-on-the-beach kind of date you've always wanted."

Kamden's POV:

"Hey sweetheart. I know you can hear me. We'll get throug this." She stopped talking. It felt like it had been months since I heard the sound of her sweet voice. I thought she had left, but she began to speak once again. "And when we do, we'll have that perfect sunset-on-the-beach kind of date you've always wanted." I wanted to smile, but I couldn't no matter how hard I tried to force myself. I wanted to see her beautiful face again.

That got me thinking, what if I never wake up. What will she do? She'll have no one left I have to fight for her. I must wake up and it was now my mission to force my eyes open. I'll fight for you Camerella if it is the last thing I do. By the way, number 24, when I wake up and get back on that field, I will be coming for you.

Hey you guys. I'm sorry I don't update this often. I really haven't been very motivated and I've been really busy lately. Please stick with me... I might start a new book on something completely different and also continue with this one. But this update may be terrible but I hope it will get better for you guys. Also, if you're reading this story, don't be afraid to comment. I want to talk to everyone! I'm trying my best to update again, I'm on spring break so maybe I will have time. Keep reading :)
