I really didn't want to be apart of whatever Mother Miranda was planning, but I had no choice. We had all been called to the Stronghold, where she would hold meetings. I sighed, closing my book, and heading for my elevator. I looked up at the stone Golem who stood in front of it.

"It's just me, Elias. I've been called to Mother Miranda." I said. Elias said nothing, but moved to the side and allowed me entrance to my elevator. All of the Golems I had ever created had a name, they were all like my children! That's why I didn't like it when Mother Miranda would come to visit me. I once had a crystal Golem named Quartz. He was my pride and joy, my greatest creation! However, when I voiced my displeasure at what Miranda had asked me to do...she destroyed him! My heart was shattered. He may have been a Golem, but he'd screamed when she destroyed him. He had suffered! I hadn't been able to bring myself to make another Golem of crystals. I knew she would use my children against me, so I'd much rather meet her somewhere else than have her come here. I stepped into the elevator, flipped the lever, and went up. Once I was up, the door of the War Maiden statue opened up. I moved out, and smiled up. "I'll be back in a short while, Maiden." I said, and she gave me a small nod in return. I made my way through the village and into the Stronghold. Thankfully, I wasn't the first one there. I definitely didn't want to be left alone with Miranda!

"Hey, Winn." Heisenberg said when I made my way in.

"Hey, Heis. Any idea why Mother Miranda called us here today?" I asked. He shook his head.

"Not a clue." He said. He looked around quickly to make sure we were alone, then gently rested a hand on my cheek. I leaned into his touch and sighed happily. Miranda, Alcina, Moreau, and Donna may all see us as "siblings" in this twisted family that Miranda has created, but Heis and I...see each other as more. We found kindred spirits in our hatred and resentment of "Mother" Miranda, and ended up falling in love. Of course, we couldn't marry in the normal sense, so we did the best we could. We gave each other a ring and pledged ourselves to each other. "How are you holding up, Darlin'?" He asked, using the nickname he always called me. I sighed.

"As well as I can, I suppose...I really miss Quartz!" I muttered, feeling the tears come to my eyes. The episode with Quartz hadn't happened too long ago. He pulled me in for a hug.

"I know. It was despicable of Miranda to do that to you." He said. Heis knew how important my Golems were to me. He'd been so very angry when he found out what Miranda had done. He kissed my head, and we pulled apart just in time for Mother Miranda to come in...holding an infant in her arms!

"Ah, Heisenberg, Branwyn, I'm glad you are both here so early." She said. I frowned a little.

"Mother Miranda, why do you have a baby with you?" I asked her. She gave me a smile.

"After a century of searching, I have found the perfect vessel for Eva!" She said, and I bristled at that comment. I knew she had been searching for someone who could host her long dead daughter's spirit, but this was a child! A baby! I could say no more, as Alcina, Moreau, and Donna with her doll Angie, walked in. We all sat down (well, I was already sitting), and Mother Miranda began to speak. "I have finally found the chosen child! Rosemary Winters...her body is the perfect vessel to bring my Eva back to life. However, before the ceremony this evening, I must assess her regenerative abilities." She said. Too my horror, the small baby, Rosemary, began to completely crystalize! Once she was fully crystalized, Miranda broke her into five pieces!! I felt like I was going to vomit, this was so sick! She put each piece into a flask...then gave each flask to us. "Yes, her essence is still in tact. She will regenerate just fine. You all will keep these flasks and guard them until the ceremony." She said.

"Yes, Mother Miranda." We all responded, though mine was much more hushed. I noticed, to my horror, that my flask contained little Rosemary's heart! My face must have turned very pale, as Mother Miranda took notice.

"Branwyn, are you alright? Is something bothering you?" She asked. I shook my head.

"No Mother Miranda...but...are you sure she's the right vessel? She's just a baby!" I said. Her eyes flashed at me.

"As was my Eva when she died! Are you saying that my Eva is any less deserving of life then this child?!" She asked. I quickly back tracked, realizing my mistake.

"No Mother, I would never! I just have a soft spot for infants. I want to make sure she isn't in any pain is all." I said. Miranda's face softened. I'd found that she seemed to love my compassion and empathy for children, so I often used it to my advantage.

"Of course dear, of course. I apologize for shouting. No, she is not in any pain, she is merely in a long slumber." She said, and I nodded, feeling minorly relieved. However, none of us could speak anymore, as we received word that there was an intruder in the Stronghold. Heis decided to go and check it out. He came back a few minutes later, dragging a man who turned out to be Rose's (As I had taken to calling her) Father, Ethan Winters! He came around as Heis and Alcina were making arguments to Miranda about what should be done with Mr. Winters.

"Trust him to House Dimitrescu, my daughters just love entertaining foreigners." Alcina said. Heis jumped in.

"So you can do it in private! No, give him to me and I'll put on a show that we can all enjoy!" He said. Alcina scoffed.

"Oh, how gauche! What need do we have for games and circuses! If you give him to me, the man-thing's suffering is assured-" Heis cut her off.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, and if you cut the man's ---- off in your castle, blah blah, blah." I blushed a little at Heisenberg's bluntness.

"I have made my decision. Heisenberg, the man is entrusted to you." Mother Miranda said. Alcina stood, quickly.

"Mother Miranda, I must protest! Heisenberg is but a child, and his devotion to you is questionable! Give the man to me, and I will deliver you to finest cups of his blood!" She said, and I frowned. Heis was not a child!

"Stop being a sore loser and go find your food somewhere else!" Heis had stood too.

"Quiet, child! The adults are talking!" Alcina said, and I felt my blood boil.

"I'm the child?! You're the one arguing with Miranda's decision!" He said, summoning his hammer to him. Heis had the power to control metal.

"You wouldn't know responsibility if it was welded to your hammer!"

"Oh, why don't you grow some more, maybe then your head will fit your ego!" I stood abruptly, not taking to account my crystallized legs, and summoned sharp crystal shards to me. I pointed them all right at Alcina's chest.

"Don't you talk to him that way, you pompous, spoiled, vampiric asshole!!" I yelled.

"ENOUGH!!" Mother Miranda said, extending her six wings, calling our attention to her. I immediately fell to the ground with my crystals. Moreau was kind enough too help me back into my seat.

"Thank you..." I whispered. He nodded at me, and we both turned our attention to Mother Miranda.

"My decision is final! Heisenberg will decide the man's fate! Remember from whence you came!" Miranda said, and I felt a bitter resentment rise up in me at that comment. Yeah, 'from whence we came' indeed!

"Yes, Mother Miranda..." Alcina said, though very begrudgingly. Heis smirked.

"Then let's get this show started! Lycans and gentlemen!" He called, as the Lycans began coming out of their den. "10...9...8..." Heis began counting down. I looked at Ethan.

"Good luck." I mouthed the words silently, knowing he saw me.

"7...6...5..." Heisenberg continued, swinging his hammer on the ground and breaking the chains that held Ethan there. Ethan turned quickly, and found a hole in the floor.

"4...3...2...here we go! One!" With that, Ethan jumped into the hole. I sighed and elected to show myself out, going back to the crystal mines I called home.
