My name is Luce Aiko. The year is 2893. Love is a dangerous and an unobtainable thing. I fear it so. I was born out of duty to the society, not out of love, as it should be. I only have two friends, Katherine Marche and Seraphina Gabriel. They were both born out of love lock as well. Most of us were. There's a theory going around that since people are procreating with people that they do not love, that their children are having a harder time finding their soulmate. Katherine, Seraphina, and myself are all born on the same day in the same hospital. We have been friends ever since we were babies. We are all going on The Search together. Today is the day where we take a test that narrows down the area where we might find our soulmate. Katherine and Seraphina are at my house today helping me get ready because I am hopeless when it comes to fashion.

"Luce, you have to choose between this pink dress with the peonies on it or this dress with the pearls embroidered into the bodice" Seraphina demanded.

"I know, I know, Ser; I just don't know which one would look good on me. I mean, all I wear are converse and skinny jeans" I mumbled.

"Honestly Luce, you're going to be the death of me...YOU NEED TO WEAR THE PEONY DRESS, ITS YOUR FAVORITE FLOWER!" Katherine screamed.

I fumbled around to get the dress on with the help of my friends. I'm not used to wearing such things. I don't usually wear things that girls wear. I don't identify as a girl, but I don't identify as a boy either. It's too complicated to explain. I'm in a category of my own. People don't bother me about it because it's illegal to discriminate against people for their gender. All sexualities are the norm. We don't have words for them, the only word we use are people. Whatever words you use to describe a persons gender or sexuality do not exist anymore. I read that it was absolutely horrible back then, that people were killed because they were a girl born in the wrong body. It happens all the time, I don't understand why that was such a big issue with everyone back then.

Once I was in the damn dress, my friends gave me a look.

"It doesn't look right" they said in unison.

"But lucky for you, I have something special for you" Seraphina squealed.

She pulled out something that was in a large bag. She unzipped it. It was a beautiful black suit.

"And if you want you can still put a peony in the front pocket of the suit" Katherine said smiling.
