Niall's POV

Aria and I sit on the plane, waiting for it to leave to California. Aria taps her finger against the armrest anxiously. I take her hand and hold it in mine.

"Hey, don't worry. It's gonna be okay. Do you want to watch a movie?"

I ask her, trying to calm her nerves. She's scared, I can tell. Scared that Dominic will find us. Scared that even though there's no way for it to happen, he'll take her back. In a sense, I'm scared too. What if he finds us and takes Aria away?

"Sure... you pick,"

Aria responds to my question. I pick out 21 Jump Street from the movie selection section on the mini TV screens.

"This will cheer you up, hm?"

I say. She nods, smiling. When the plane takes off, we put in our headphones and watch the movie peacefully. It's dark outside, but it looks beautiful with the bright lights showing off the city.

Halfway through the movie, I realize Aria is asleep. Her head rests on my shoulder. I chuckle and rub her back, pulling her closer. A flight attendant comes by.

"Excuse me, would you like anything to eat or drink?"

She asks.

"Sure. Could I get a Sprite and a bag of pretzels?"

I ask. She nods.

"And anything for her?"

She asks, grinning.

"Uh, she'll have the same. Thank you,"

I tell her, trying not to wake up Aria. She shifts around but stays asleep. I start the movie back up after she brings our food and drinks and I set them on my tray.

Aria wakes up a few minutes later.

"I ordered you Sprite and pretzels ba- er, Aria..."

I save myself from accidentally calling her babe, knowing that would be a little awkward. She nods and sits up.

"How much longer?"

She asks. I check my phone.

"Four hours... I'm gonna sleep for a bit, um... goodnight I guess,"

When we land in LA, Aria's eyes widen, taking in the city.

"Holy shit... this is beautiful..."

She breathes. I smile and wave to a taxi, who picks us up and drives us to the hotel I usually stay at in the city.

When we get there, we get all signed in without any drama, and head up to our room. I can tell Aria is amazed by the soft black couches and huge windows in our room, which is on the top floor.

"Oh I've been meaning to ask you something... I know things have been a little tense today, but I was wondering if you wanted to go out. You know, see a movie or something? It would actually be more of like... I dunno... a private restaurant so there are no paparazzi and fans all over us, not that--never mind, sorry,"

I ask her as she stares out the window. She turns and faces me.

"No, no, that would be really fun."

-

"Oh! I forgot to show you one part,"

I say after giving Aria the tour. I lead her out to the balcony overlooking the city. Her jaw drops.

"Wow..."

She trails off. I smile and take her hand in mine as we look over the railing.

"Beautiful, isn't it?"

I say. She nods. Almost as beautiful as you, I think to myself. I glance at Aria. Her long, light brown hair flows down her shoulders and back, stopping just before her waist. Her blue eyes examine the city lights and skyscrapers, and her long eyelashes brush against each other each time she blinks. Her tan skin looks beautiful, especially in this lighting, with the sun setting in front of it.

"What?"

She asks, knowing that I'm staring at her. I shake my head.

"Nothing, just... you're so beautiful, you know. I've been meaning to tell you how gorgeous you are,"

She blushes and shrugs.

"Thank you. No ones ever really told me that,"

She says, turning to me. I'm holding both of her hands and looking into her eyes. I think this is when we're supposed to kiss. That's what happens in the movies, anyways. But this is not a movie and we aren't the characters, so she awkwardly turns away.

Lately we'd been giving each other playful little kisses on the forehead or cheek, but we'd never really kissed. I've had the urge to, so many times. A few seconds ago, for example.

But I'm kind of nervous to. She's this beautiful angel and I'm just a guy. I have no idea why she even said yes to the date with me. But there is no denying I was ecstatic when she did.
