-promises are meant to be broken-It was the unsettled look in Harry's eyes which made the smile of Louis slowly vanish. The way he looked down at his hands, the way he looked so weak, as if he wasn't strong enough to make him sit up straight. And with silence filling the air around them, Louis put the pieces together. When he asked where they were going, Harry seemed so lost, not being able to answer him. The way this place made him so weak, like the moon sucked all the energie out of him. And lastly, what Harry said a few minutes ago: 'Isn't it weird that we can literally just bend forward and our life would be gone just like that? We're one choice away.'
As Louis put the pieces together, silently realizing, his eyes were focused on the moon. He just gazed, his lips gently pressed together. "This wasn't supposed to be a safe space the first time you came here," he spoke up, "it was supposed to be an escape."
After he said that, he turned his head to Harry, waiting for him to give a signal. The weak eyes of him gave the answer, as they lifelessly gazed at Louis. Without thinking it through, Louis rose from the edge of the cliff. He took Harry's hands from his lap to clear the spot and sat down on it as his legs were wrapped around Harry's back. His back faced the moon, preventing him from seeing hundreds of meters down the cliff. He was sitting directly in front of Harry, faces inches away, and when Harry looked up, he saw how broken he looked behind his green gem-colored eyes.
"What are you doing?" He whispered in confusion, even though his eyes didn't radiate anything but sadness.
Louis folded his arms around Harry's neck. "Like you said, you can literally just bend forward and our life would be gone. You're one choice away. But if you go, you take me with you."
Harry's eyes looked straight into the blue ones in front of him, "so you trust me?"
"No,' he said softly, keeping his eyes on his, 'I'm just not afraid to die."
Harry shook his head in denial, "Everyone is, Louis."
He shook his head playfully and to prove he was telling the truth, he put a firmer hold on Harry's neck and bowed backwards, making him dangle over the edge of the cliff. Harry quickly put his arms around his waist as he gasped, holding him tight so he wouldn't fall. "Louis! Stop being so reckless and stupid!" He called out in shock, his heart beating faster against his chest.
But Louis threw his head back to look at the moon, and he felt so free. He laughed as he dropped his hands from Harry's neck, so the only thing stopping him from plunging hundreds of meters down were Harry's arms around his waist. "Louis!" Harry called out, holding him tightly, "stop playing it's not funny!" He nearly screamed, as if that could ever stop him.
"One choice away, Harry," he just reminded, closing his eyes without worrying about what could happen. Like, he couldn't just fall to death, if Harry's grip would loosen. Just when Louis thought he would drop to death because he moved backwards, Harry jerked him back up, crashing right onto Harry because of the speed. But right when he was about to hit him, Harry quickly turned him over, knocking his back to the ground harshly and sitting over him. He straddled his hips, one knee on either side of him.
"Don't do that ever again! Playing with death right in front of me!" He yelled, making Louis quiet in a startle, but he shook his head as he was upset as well.
"You were about to jump the previous time, so what? You wanted your parents to call me, you jumped off a cliff!" He fired back.
"Why do you think I didn't!" Harry called out, still having him pinned to the ground. He had his hands pinned above his head as well. He was just too angry with him, as he literally could have died right in front of him, "because of you! Because something in me had still hoped you'd come back to me. Yes, I was about to jump, but saw your bright star, which didn't shine as bright as it usually did. As if it was a sign."
