I stared wide-eyed at Myungho. "What?"

"Why so serious?" He broke out chuckling. "I'm here for my science tuition, duh." Then he walked to his usual spot - the couch, and settled down.

"You didn't come to school today. I thought you were sick or something." I tried to sound as indifferent as possible.

"Don't worry. No matter how busy I am, I won't neglect my studies." Myungho smiled brightly at me, but I couldn't smile back. I don't know for what reason, but I know something else laid behind that smile. "Shall we get started then?" He added before I could ask him anything.

...

It's Friday.

I am in class but the seat in front of me is empty. Again. No text, no calls, and no news from Myungho. I wasn't going to worry even if he disappeared for days because he's an 18-year-old guy... but for the first time today, Seokmin approached me with a worried expression.

"Can we talk?" He came up to my desk as soon as it was lunchtime. My anxiety rose from the sudden confrontation. I still have problems dealing with people other than Myungho and my boss Daphne so I was going to reject him.

"It's about Myungho," he added, and that changed my mind.

I walked with Seokmin to the staircase where no one was around before he started talking. "First of all, don't be surprised when I say that I know you and him have been tutoring each other."

I still took a step back.

"It's no secret. He told me before," Seokmin explained more. "But that's not the main point. The point is, you were with him yesterday right?"

We had a session at M&K yesterday so yes, I nodded.

"Did he tell you where he was going after the tuition?"

I shook my head this time, still confused at his urgency. "Why? Is something wrong?"

"I can't reach him since last night," Seokmin said. I couldn't understand why he looked so distressed. Myungho is a big boy.

"I'm sure he'll take care of himself, don't worry too much."

"No, it's not that simple. He was supposed to meet me last night but he completely went off the radar. It's strange."

I narrowed my eyes trying to reason this out. "We left the studio around twelve last night. He might've gone straight home and crashed. Maybe it was a tiring day for him?"

"That's the problem, Yujin..." Seokmin messed with his hair. "He's supposed to crash at my place. His house is wrecked by loansharks so he has nowhere to go, but if he didn't come to me and he wasn't with you... where did he go?"

My frown deepened as I took time to register what Seokmin said. I never imagined that the bright and cheeky Myungho I saw yesterday was going through a tough time. He even walked me home last night.
