Part 10

Daniel went to New York as planned. He kept trying to ring up Kayla up after he landed. She didn't answer her phone. He contacted Tom to see if he had any contact with her. He had replied no and that everything was ok. He just wanted to get back home so that he could go and find Kayla.

He landed at Heathrow early hours of his 25th birthday. Tired as he was, it didn't stop him from planning to find Kayla.

His parents were there to pick him up from the airport. He hugged them and gave his luggage to his dad and his Bodyguard.

"Let's get you home Dan so you can have a brew." His mum told him as they escorted him to the car.

"No mum I need to speak to Kayla. She's not been answering her phone and I just want to make sure that my baby boy is fine." Dan tried to pull away from his mum.

"Dan let's just go home and talk things over. There is something we need to actually talk about."

Dan looked at his mum. The tone of voice that his mum had made Dan worried.

They arrived at Dan's apartment. He unlocked the door and let his parents and bodyguard in. Dan went and sat down on his sofa and leaned back, the jet lag was setting in.

"Mum please tell me what is going on? What has happened to Kayla?" Dan was getting very worried.

"Kayla is in hospital Dan. There was an incident that occurred a day after you left her, and you were in New York. The police got involved Dan, as they had noted that she was your girlfriend. Her ex-husband tried to kill her and baby Ethan. If it wasn't for one of her workmates who was visiting, then you would be going to a funeral for Ethan." Dan's mum explained to her son.

Dan put both his hands over his mouth in shock. He couldn't believe that her ex would do something like this.

"So where is Ethan?"

Tom walked in from the spare bedroom.

"Ssshh. I have just got him to sleep." Tom told them to quieten down.

Dan got up and headed to the spare room and looked to see that the room had a cot in. There laid his baby boy with a mobile circling around and playing a lullaby putting him to sleep.

Tears started to roll down his cheeks. He stroked his boy's baby cheek.

"Your safe my boy. Now we just need your mum here with us." He leaned down and kissed his boy's cheek and then headed out of the room and pulled the door and left it open a little.

"It's good to see you Tom. But how did you get Ethan here? Which hospital is Kayla in?"

"You still haven't told him, have you? You said that you were going to tell him before I came out!" Tom raised his voice a little at Dan's parents.

"Still haven't told me what? Mum where is Kayla? Please tell me the truth!" Dan demanded from his mum.

"Tell him, he has the right to know where his girlfriend is."

"Mum?"

"Kayla is in the hospital but not the kind of ward that you would think she is in." Dan's mum started crying.

"What ward is she in?" Dan demanded again.

"She was in the intensive care unit Dan. Her ex-husband shot her trying to kill your son. I received another direct message on Twitter telling me to go back to Sheffield as I was called away to a meeting for a new movie and Jade was recalled back to London. The police got a hold of me as well. I told them to hold back in telling you as you were out of the country. Kayla's mum wanted to tell you personally, but with you in New York, they have waited until now. She is now in the same ward that David was in after Hallows Pt1. " Tom headed into the kitchen and brought out Kayla's mum.

"Mr Radcliffe. It's finally nice to meet the man that made my daughter pregnant. You actually saved her life the time that she was pregnant with Ethan with the divorce proceedings that happened, Kayla was in a bad state." Ms Sampson shook Daniel's hand.

"Ms Sampson I'm sorry that I wasn't there for Kayla when she needed me. Believe me that I love your daughter and my son together. I wanted her to come with me to New York, but she refused. I even offered her to come and live here."

"Yes, Kayla can be stubborn when she wants to be, but this time her decision has cost her."

"What do you mean?"

"My daughter is in a rehabilitation ward for patients that are paralysed, she can't move her legs. He ex shot her in the lower back. Kayla will be in a wheelchair for the rest of life."

Ethan started to whimper, Dan got up and headed to the room where he laid in his cot.

"Hey there beautiful. You missed your daddy huh?" Dan asked his boy. He started to calm down in Dan's arms.

"I want to go and see her."

"I told you that he would want to see her, but no you wouldn't listen." Tom went into the kitchen to find a strong drink.

"Kayla is not herself at the moment. So, there is really no point in going at this moment. Plus, you have only just got back from New York and you must be really tired, why don't you just sleep for a while and then we shall see about going to see Kayla." Ms Sampson mentioned.

Dan went into his bedroom and shut the door behind him. Ethan had fallen asleep in his arms. So, he put him down on his bed and laid down at the side of him and he lightly stroked Ethan's baby cheek.

He heard his parents and Kayla's mum arguing out in the living area. Tom came in and quietly shut the door.

"They have been non-stop arguing since they had met each other the other day. None of them really cared about Ethan. Me and Jade have been looking after the little one since the accident." Tom came and sat on the edge of the bed.

"What happened Tom? What happened to Kayla whilst I was away? The truth please." Dan asked with tears in his eyes.

"Kayla's ex had obviously found out that she had given birth to your son through the news. But what Mya didn't know was he was still added as a friend on her Facebook. It was this then flipped his lid and headed over to confront Kayla about the whole thing.

One of her workmates had popped around to see how she was doing. She struggled to go out of the flat due to the media hounding her every move thinking that she would run down here to meet you. But she stood her ground and managed to get her shopping done in relevant peace from what I heard.

But her ex was waiting for her when she got back from shopping. There was a big confrontation and the whole street heard nearly everything. Ethan apparently was crying his eyes out as Kayla started screaming and pleading with her ex not to shoot, but he aimed at Ethan, but Kayla stepped in front of Ethan's pram and took the shot to protect him.

Her friend called for the police and an ambulance. That was when I was contacted by her mate via Kayla's Twitter account that I needed to come up and take Ethan back here. She had found out that her mum didn't want to take custody of Ethan, so I stepped in and brought him here.

That was when I met Ms Sampson and told her my plans for Ethan and that I was taking him home. She wasn't bothered about him and just said fine. All she was concerned that her daughter had a one-night stand with her favourite celeb and got caught short." Tom explained everything to his mate.

"So, you know where she is then?"

"Yes, I asked that they transfer her to a specialist unit in London. The same one that your stunt double David was at. I told them that they were best in the UK. Ms Sampson was fine with this."

"So, she is in London then? Could you take me to see her?"

Tom nodded his head in reply. "But we shall have to wait until they have gone, as Ms Sampson doesn't want you anywhere near her daughter. But I managed to get around that.
