He spat out the words, and he saw Lilith’s eyebrows rise in shock and heard Kate gasp. He felt a soft tap on his back, and spun around, seeing a random kid. “Oliver say’s xe needs to see you.” The kid spoke calmly, but had a slight hint of some sort of emotion in his eyes. “Alright, where is xe?” Theodore heard himself ask, and the kid signalled for him to follow.

Theodore followed the kid, but when he was at the end of a dead end hallway, he was confused. Thats when he realized the look in the kids eyes was malice, and spun around quickly to see the kid leaning against some lockers, grinning. “You should probably know this Theodore,” the way the kid spat Theodores name out made him shiver slightly, “Oliver doesn’t like you, xe never will. Xyr song isn’t your sappy greek myth song. I even doubt xe knows you exist” I felt their words sink in, wincing slightly at the rude words, but feeling happy that others respected Olivers pronouns.

Loathe they way they light candle in Rome

But love the sweet air of the votives

Hurt and grieve but don’t suffer alone

Engage with the pain as a motive

Today of all days

See

How the most dangerous thing is to love

How you will heal and you’ll rise above

Achilles

Achilles

Achilles

Jump now

You are absent of cause

Or excuse

“So self indulgent and self referential, no audiance would ever want you.” The student hissed out the familar phrase. “You crave the appalause, yet hate the attention. Then miss it, your act is a ruse.” Theodre continued with the next verse out of habit, mumbling it as the familar words tumbled out. The student then turned around, feeling as though his work was completed, and left Theodore alone in the hall. As Theodore leaned against the wall behind him, the ‘wall’ fell, now being found to be a door to the roof. Theodore stood up, quickly advancing up the stairs, “it is empty, Achilles. So end it all now, It’s a pointless resistance for you.” The lyrics were falling mindlessly out of his mouth now, he was so focused on his inner though of getting to the ledge of the building as fast as possible. Once reaching the edge of the school building, he removed his shoes and sat on the ledge. “Achilles, Achilles, just put down the bottle, don’t listen to what you’ve consumed.” The words were coming out garbled, and Theodore was suddenly crying.

Its chaos, confusion

And wholly unworthy

Of feeding and it’s wholly untrue

You may feel no purpose

Nor a point for existing

It’s all just conjecture and gloom

And there may not be meaning

So find one and seize it

“Do not waste yourself on this roof.” Theodore mumbled as he stood, beginning to gather courage.

Hear those bells ring deep in the soul

Chiming away for a moment

Feel your breath course frankly below

See life as a worthy opponent

Today of all days

See

How the most dangerous thing is to love

How you will heal and you’ll rise above

Crowned by an overture bold and beyond

Ah, it’s more courageous to overcome

“You want the acclaim, the mother of mothers.” The student from earlier spoke, smiling at him while standing on the edge, looking him in the eyes and daring him to do it. “More poignat that fame or the taste of another, but be real and just jump.” A soft noise came from behind, hearing the door open slowly and a soft gasp. “You dense m-” The student started, but a different voice interrupted “You’re worth more Achilles.” Both turned, seeing Oliver standing there, Kate and Lilith behind him, with both panting from running the way there.

You will not be more than a rat in the gutter (So much more than a rat)

You want my opinion (No one asked your opinion)

My opinion you’ve got

You asked my counsel (No one asked for your thoughts)

Im talking to you

Im talking to you

“I’m talking to you, Achilles come down, Achilles come down.” Oliver’s voice rang out, as the thudding and music in Theodore’s ears faded. He felt a hand on his chest, and felt a scream bubble in his chest. “Throw yourself into the unknown” Theodore sighed, closing his eyes and falling asleep as he hit the ground.
