9 months.

9 months is a really long time when you do one thing constantly. 9 months doesn't feel that long when your doing something different every single day.

In the case of Izumi, however? It felt like a really long time. Every day, she'd train, more and more, her body would ache and groan as she made sure she was ready for the entrance exams when that strict time limit was over.

She used to question why these 9 months of training would have to be done. She had trained her whole life once she gained the Skull Heart, thanks to the insistence of Lady Double, and sometimes the side support of her mother. Yet after wholeheartedly seeing what was in store, she realized why.

Double really went easy on her as a child.

Personally, Izumi didn't need the muscle, she just needed control. All that training Double committed her too wasn't really physical, it was power based. She is at a level where no strain is necessary for the power she wields. But her overall muscle, physical combat, and agility? An utter joke, really. She could spend hours launching skull after skull at a wall, but somehow she couldn't run a legitimate 5 straight minutes without collapsing in a fit of sweat and tears.

She had a long 9 months of just training, running the roads, and eventually cleaning an entire beach without the use of her power for hours on end.

She could recall one day, she was tasked with lifting a whole fridge up without the usage of her power. You could tell it was a hard endeavor, but at the time, Izumi really thought she could take it....

After nearly having her whole lower half crushed to a pulp, she realized how weak she really was despite 3 months of physical training.

Sure, she could lift the thing for a few seconds, but then it all came toppling down. Double was insistent on saving her, however, and coaxing all the love she could give to ensure Izumi wouldn't think this is some abusive training regiment. It honestly hurt Double inside, seeing her struggle...but the fact Izumi never once yelled out some hate comment or objection either told her she was working some magic...or Izumi was holding back her hate. But she knew Izumi wouldn't do that...Izumi was a pure child. She kept no grudges against anyone, and wanted to keep them happy no matter the cost to herself. She was special, and Double saw that.

6 months in, and Izumi looked a bit toned and strong. She of course looked a bit like that, but Izumi opted to keep to a strict diet to keep her metabolism in check. She wanted to make everyone proud.

In the distance after a few months, with the beach nearly clean, Izumi could see a rather shaggy man sipping from his juice box, looking at the pair. Izumi didn't exactly know who the man was, but upon closer inspection, he looked familiar...not that it mattered, anyways. She kept her pace up, and soon enough, the man would leave.

Every day after that, the same man would return, over and over. The first few times he looked bored but intrigued...maybe a bit...worried? Then, he slowly seemed to smirk every now and then when she picked up something abnormally heavy without her "quirk"....which meant whoever this guy was, he must be happy to see her training.

It was 9 months in when the beach was 3/4 of the way clean.

People from all over Musutafu and even Hosu would just come over to hang out at the beach. The same scraggly man, however, remained at his distant spot. He just kept watching the two, as if analyzing them. Double had voiced concerns, but Izumi assured her the man would only watch, as she saw him now, and Double simply begrudgingly nods.

Months of training seemed to go by in a flash now. The training really messed with her aspects of time. One moment, she was training in hand to hand combat. The next? Cleaning the rest of the beach.
