Izumi froze after he asked such a sort of private question. For one, how did he know of the Skull Heart? How could a hero who has only appeared a few years prior, hear of such a thing that was widely forgotten by the public? At least, that's what Lady Double had told her of. Was the Lady wrong, or was some people keeping tabs on this thing?

She fidgets in her spot just as Toshinori sighs, looking at the kid. The kid was caught off gaurd to my question....to the point where her mind can't help but draw a blank...but be patient. I sort of have time now, thanks to the overall density of heroes in this city...plus my time limit had expired...even if I wanted to go heroing, it would injure me... he softly rubbed his wound and looks to the kid with his sort of judgmental gaze.

Finally, Izumi released a sigh as she finally breaks under the pressure, it's not like she can hide it away, and if her favorite hero, the number one, for that matter, already knew of her supposed gift, then...what did it matter to hide it? "....I got it from someone who is now very, very close to me. She told me many sorts of stories and taught me how to use it...but she told me I was special."

Toshinori looks into her eyes for any sighs of some lie, sighing as he sees the truth and determination in her eyes. "...mhm....and...who would this person be? A previous user of the Heart?"

Izumi sighs and scratched her head "...I thought...n-nevermind..." she sits up straighter "...her name is Lady Double. She, as far as I've heard, is the one to hold the Skull Heart to pass it on...but as she told me, ever since the last, she's been alone and waiting for someone's soul to be attuned to the Heart, and it was mine she grew close to. But instead of treating me as a vessel, as she said, I grew on her, and she learnt why she grew to me..." she walks to the sort of ledge beside Toshinori, leaning over it a bit "...she told me I've managed to negate the negative side of the Skull Heart due to one thing...purity."

Well, Toshinori had a shocked expression now as he looks to the kid. Double was...alive? By all accounts, they saw her die due to an accidental fatal wound at the time, melt into the ground and...wait...of course she wasn't dead. She's a shapeshifting being, so she probably formed herself as a puddle and scuffled away. And as for that other detail with the Heart....as the records says, one who makes a wish upon the heart become corrupted with time, no matter the wish...what sort of wish did this kid make?!

"...if you wouldn't mind me asking kid...what..did you wish?"

Izumi sighs and looks over the railing to the streets below. "....I was fairly young, around 5...a year prior I was told I'd be a quirkless kid...and I'd been bullied for the year following.." she looks up to the sky with a solemn look. "...I remember feeling her hold and comfort me when she saw me, and she showed me the heart...but she told me of the curse that it had brought upon people. I..I looked her in the eye with that, with some hesitation...but I knew that I wanted to do one thing...my childlike mind grabbed ahold of the heart...and wished to be the next SkullGirl, for the pure purpose of being a true hero...." he looks back to Toshinori with those same skull eyes, just lightly glowing "...Double couldn't describe what had happened next. I remember passing out due to some exhaustion...the next thing I know, Lady Double was rubbing my head and letting me rest on her, but I could tell she was waiting for some word or something to come from me...all I said to her was...did it work? Can I be a hero too?" She looks to Toshinori with a small smile "...ever since then, she's watched over me, kept me safe, and taught me how to use it, all the while, keeping my mom company whenever I wasn't back from home..."

Toshinori couldn't describe the smile that was on his face. Not only did this kid disprove Nezu's theory, she knocked it to smithereens. A pure hearted individual can negate and destroy the effects of the Skull Heart, and with that, she also managed to soothe over what is supposedly a soul bent on creating monsters...it amazed him how she managed to do all this at the age of 5...she had a gift, he'll give her that much.
