In July 14th, 2027 The 3rd World War had officially ended and the world was now left to to lick its wounds and tend to its dead, still reeling from the affects of the war.In Asia, A summit was held between the members of the North Atlantic Council to decide the ultimate fate of the PRC. The People’s Republic of China would be dismantled, and in its place, the Republic of China would annex all of its former territories, all except for Inner Mongolia, which was handed to the Mongols as compensation for the atrocities they were put through. Uyghurs were given a semi-autonomous region with full right of return, and Tibet a fully autonomous region under the wing of the ROC. The deradicalization of the people would take years, and would not be without its share of bloodshed, purging communist influence from the companies would have a devastating effect.
However, Ukraine the peace deal was mostly bloodless, and the anti-Azov purges were small and inconsequential, the nation’s lack of care for its ethnic minorities came to be seen in full light. And the EU started pressuring it to hold referendums in its ethnically diverse areas for self-determination, pressure which, for the most part, lead to naught. Ukraine was getting squeezed by all of its neighbours however, and only time will tell if they will be able to keep resisting foreign influence.
In the Middle East, the peace talks were rather, quick. The Israeli government officials were put on trial for crimes against humanity and despite the UN’s plea to have them judged in The Hague by the international court, but the Arab countries took justice in their own hands, and Egypt and its Islamic State of Palestine, as well as Syria had all of their political prisoners executed. Jordan and its Republic of Palestine as well as Lebanon had them imprisoned for life.
As for the partition, it was supposed to be a unified Palestinian state, however, disagreement over what should happen to the Jewish population, and the type of government lead to the emergence of two sates, the Islamic State of Palestine, backed by Egypt, a successor to Hamas that wished to see the Jews expulsed, and the establishment of a state ruled by a true, Sunni, Muslim where Shariah would be the ultimate Rule of Law.
In the north, controlling Jerusalem, was the Republic of Palestine, which was a democratic system backed by Jordan, that wished to see the Palestinians given their homes back but no further harm being incurred to the Jews. They viewed a secular and democratic Palestine for all Palestinians no matter their ethnicity as the only way forward. Their views clashed significantly, and with Syria and Iraq supporting their former Hashemite monarchs, the balance of power was scaled equally. But that was not the only brewing conflict in the region.
With the now war over, Lebanon occupied Southern Galilee, and allowed the Palestinians to return to their homes, gradually giving the now displaced Jews their own houses. They also reclaimed the Shebaa farms which was originally owned by Syria but occupied by Israel along the Golan, Lebanon held their claims to the area, claims that were, until now at least, backed by Damascus as well. This changed after the war when the political use of letting Lebanon own Shebaa stopped existing, and Syria wished to reassert its claims over Shebaa, and with some luck, the entirety of Lebanon.
The Grand Emir stepped down as promised, but it was not long until he was forced to take his position back as Syrian troops started massing at the border and the SSNP got more and more agitated going as far as to launch suicide attacks to accelerate Lebanon’s descent. Jordan did not wish to choose between two allies and decided to stay out of the conflict despite pressure from Syria, and despite the Arab League’s attempt to defuse the situation, war seemed inevitable.
The UNIFIL forces were redirected and the blue line was repositioned between Lebanon and Syria to further try and calm the situation, it delayed the war, but the clock was ticking and the and the gears of war were already in place.
