The warm glows of the sunset begged to be let through your windows, and your tears have started to dry up. Everything started to dawn on you, if Ruv decides to cut contacts with you, you can't see him again. You can't talk to him anymore. Even if he decides to, the conflict will interfere with the fresh beginning you two would have.
Thoughts have started a plague in your mind, the negativities spreading so fast. Everything started to wear at you, tear you down. The only escape right now would be to sleep, then try to recover when you weren't in such an emotional state. You closed your eyes, and tried to force yourself to sleep.
Having woken up a few minutes ago, the fatigue from crying still gnawed at you and the cold nipped at your skin. You went to warm up by bringing the covers over your body, it took a while before it actually did anything. Then turning over, you looked at the clock, '3:00AM.' It was really early in the morning, not even the sun decided to wake from its slumber yet.
You went to grab your phone, slightly wincing from the cold screen. Social media would distract you for now, right? Deciding to open Instagram, the front screen showed up. A bit went by, you were basically on autopilot, mindlessly scrolling on the screen without retaining any information or the pictures you saw.
Looking at your clock, you saw that it was 9:00AM were you scrolling for that long? Probably. There wasn't anything you had to do, so you decided to go somewhere despite the want to stay inside. The coffee shop wasn't an option, too many memories would come to mind. Maybe you should go to a bakery in town, still a sweet option for your sweet tooth, but not something that would hurt you again.
It was hard to get up, you could barely even do it. Your feet landed on the floor, the cold made you jump a little. Why was it so cold in the mornings, for what reason? Swinging the closet open, you pulled out your comfort clothing. It made you feel safe!
Once you were finally ready, you grabbed a pair of headphones. Starting by putting one in and leaving the other out. You unlocked your phone, clicking on the spotify app. The playlist you clicked on started to pour out its music.
A smile graced your face, it felt like it had been a while since you had done that. Even if it was just yesterday.
Everything seemed awfully loud.
People who were talking were so loud, yet you couldn't hear what they were saying. Your brain just wouldn't process any of it. Then everything went silent.. There weren't any footsteps that followed people as they were walking on the sidewalk. No windows of establishments were being cleaned or people tapping the glass while looking at products.
Someone had bumped into you, it hurt since they were probably bigger than you. Your eyes looked up to see someone, they had green eyes that adorned their face. Though they were pleasing to look at, the person's personality could be terrible. You two had been standing there silently for a few seconds, the air was getting thicker and your body felt stiff.
"I'm sorry.." The man's voice pleasantly reached your ears. You take off your headphones, feeling the air hit them. "No worries..!" Your footsteps could be heard as you walked away, while putting your headphones back in. A few minutes tap by and you're almost at the bakery when you hear a cough echo against your ear not too far behind you. "Hello?" You look around to see the same man as before behind you, was he following you? "Yes?" "Oh, nothing sorry." You continue walking to the bakery rolling your eyes. You couldn't care less. You arrive at the bakery and walk in, an old lady kindly greets you at the front. Her eyes reflected the nostalgia she felt, a smile slightly making its way on her face.
"Hello, welcome to Village Bakery! How may I help you?" You're actually very surprised that there are not a lot of customers, this place had a warm look and comfy atmosphere. "I'm sorry, could I look at the menu really quickly?" "Of course!" You look up at the menu, your eyes looking at the man you have seen before. "Hey Ryan!" "Ryan? What a nice name!" Ryan walks behind the counter and gives the worker a hug. "Miss Shay! So good to see you again." The lady looks at you again, "You ready to order?" Your eyes started to skim the menu again. "Yeah! I'll just get a crepe." "Coming right up! Ryan, don't let the young lady get bored."
She chuckles and walks to the back, closing the door behind her with a small thud. You lock eyes with him again. "So, what's your name?" "Oh, uh- It's Y/N."I like that name! I'm sorry to ask but are you okay? You look sad." You hold back tears, "Uh yeah, I just am having friend problems..." He walks back around the counter and hugs you. "It's gonna be okay." He walks back around, "Sorry, I shouldn't be hugging someone I just met." "No! No, it's okay, I needed that thank you!" The lady walks back, after opening the back door again. "Your total will be 15$." You insert your card and pay, the card register making a small ding sound. "Thank you for coming! Have a good day."
You walk outside, starting to hear the people outside's conversations. The atmosphere is becoming a little more warm than before, especially after an awkward situation like that. 'I shouldn't be feeding my sadness.' You hear footsteps coming from behind you. "Hey! Wait up!" "Sorry, you forgot your receipt." "Oh, thank you!" "No problem! Uhm, I know we just met but.. Could I have your phone number?" Your eyes widen, a new friend that could possibly make the fallout just a bit better. "Uh, sure! It's *******." He smiles as he writes it down on his arm with a pen, ink becoming a dark hue that will possibly stain later.. "Thank you!" He walks away back into the confinements of the bakery.
A few minutes later you arrive back at home and open your door. "Home sweet home." You set your crepe down on the table with a clink, and take out your headphones once again. You sit down, starting to eat with your fork going into the soft pastry for another bite. A few minutes swiftly, small sadness filling your insides when the pastry was gone. The ping of your phone, hope started to well. Knowing exactly who it was, the guy you met on the sidewalk. What a good place to meet a guy, right?
