"Let Me Tell You Bout the Smile On My Face"

You wonder how I smile when there seems to be no reasons
I laugh and keep a sense of joy through each woeful season
You see our world and crumble as it crashes at our feet
And many lack from day today enough for all to eat
Some feel no want or need to share as they sit on top of plenty
While others sit below the steps with empty hope they might spare any
With things the way they are right now I see how you could think
"I know how she gets her smiles. It's from many many drinks"
But the joy I find and fight to keep does not come from a bottle
I'll tell you what maintains this peace
The list is actually quite colossal
To start I know existence in this dreary world is surely not forever
So to be alive and pursue peace is a valuable endeavor
I promise you that this is not a rouse, or trick, or ploy
This is just what I have found to be great reasons for joy
Observation of the feline, aka my crazy cats
Watching and laughing as they chase a rolled up plastic bag
Their eyes grow large
Their tails they shake these curious little creatures
They try to make themselves big put on an intimidating demeanor
I peer into this striking face and examine all the features
Always set to pounce
Somewhat patient and yet eager
How easy it is to look at the world and be filled up with hate
But one thing that brings me joy is my pets/furry room mates
Myriads of tones and notes combine with changing sound
Millions of feelings fill my heart and in my ears resound
There is no end of options for grouping notes together
And composed to perfection the result makes me feel better
So when I get to feeling weak and very much alone
I pull out my earbuds and plug into my phone
For moments in concession I feel seen and without fear
It fills my heart with warmth and comfort
True music to my ears
Another thing is when at night the sky gets dark
The light though it has left the sky has found home in my heart
The sun it goes away
The stars have found their time to shine
The moon greets us at the end of this day
Jehovah made these luminaries beautiful partially to please us
And one more thing that tops it off is this same sky was seen by one who died for us,
The Maker's son Christ Jesus
These gems remain in place and they are set in stone
Jehovah knows us and them by name
He's our father, friend, and home
So when it feels like there is nothing worth being here for
The sun goes down and I look up
The view of his heart pierces to my core
The love I feel from looking at Jehovah's starry night
Is bigger than the anger that tries to creep in
Wanting me to fight
Oh and there's yellow sunflowers on almost every road
They face the sun and live without a burden to unload
But when the sun's not out these happy flowers do not wither
They look to one another and glow brighter they grow bigger
When the sky goes dark with clouds you'd think that they'd had enough
But no these happy flowers stand and lift each other up
So when I start to feel a lot less than okay
I imitate the happy flower look to my friends and we both stand another day
Another thing I can't forget is ones who live without a hope
They haven't met my father yet
They have no way to cope
I wouldn't be okay at all without God's Love to keep
And if I did not share this love, the guilt would keep me from my sleep
So it brings joy to have a part in teaching ones God's name
And see their faces brighten as their love becomes a flame
This work is not a burden
I get to help clear up the lies God's holiness make certain
It's riveting to talk to others and to give such courage
So when the world strangles me
I reflect upon my privilege
I survive upon one more thing among an endless list of many
I have and share the hope of good life that's unending
Where everyone is happy and no one's going hungry
Where no one can get hurt or sick
The world's no longer ugly
So when things get bad and all else seems to fail
I think about our future and it's goodness in detail
So if you are still wondering about the smile on my face
If it makes you envious or you think I'm calloused to this place
I invite you too to join me in my joys upon this list
Think about the new world with me where badness won't exist
We can smile with true peace despite the debris of the world around
Because of the love of our father
Our reasons for joy still abound
