Chapter 6: The Cyan Gem

Wendy's POV:

The first batch of tourists were arriving and I can't wait to see April perform her tricks. She impressed Stan there and that's not what you always see everyday. I was helping April on how to do her job along with Mabel. Apparently Stan asked me that while Mabel's touring her and giving her a magician's hat for her job. Her place was near the Gift Shop and was ready for show. In the hat, there was really nothing in there, but not for long though.

"Can you tell us the secret, Apri? Did you have secret pockets in your shirt for your tricks?"Mabel curiously asked.

"I really don't share those secrets, Mabel. I saw a flyer pasted outside the Shack which told me I was one magician. Mr. Pines is pretty... flexible."April said, with a hint of hesitation and surprise."I just arrived here half an hour ago and boom! He made flyers already."

"He is. Don't worry. You'll soon get used to it."I smiled."You got to have a stage name. No one has to know your real identity. You had one?"

"No. But our boss could make one for me."April said.

"My grunkle's somewhat lazy. He can be busy on certain points. But we'll help you figure it out."Mabel replied."Like Mistress Marvelous!"

"Something else,"April snapped her fingers as she thought."I need something that conceals my identity yet defines myself."

"Mystery Mobian?"I suggested. Is it me or did April just flinch when I said 'Mobian'?

"T-That could work..."April suddenly stammered before looking at me straight in the eye."When did you heard the word 'Mobian' before?"

"I dunno, just thought of it. Why?"I carefully said. Why that word scares her? It's not that harmless.

"Never mind. Maybe I could tell you sometime why."April replied when I heard Stan approaching.

"Ladies! Kids! Gentlemen! Allow me to introduce to you to our new magician-"Stan's introductory speech by Mabel.

"Mystery Mobian!"Mabel exclaimed as she unveiled the curtains to reveal her. Nobody noticed it, but I saw a quick flash of worry at Stan's face. April was then startled at the crowd. I gave her a reassuring smile. I hope that translates into 'Do it. You've got tricks in your sleeve.' .

She saw it and her surprised look quickly forms a smirk. She began to speak.

"Welcome one! Welcome all! For I am the Mystery Mobian!"April greeted as she spread her hands in confidence. Small light blue fireworks trickled on both of her sides before they faded. Amazing! Much better than that Gleeful show. Everyone clapped and cheered.

April smiled as she curtsied."Thank you all. But that was just an opening act. I've got three more tricks in my sleeve before you wander at the gift shop."

She then performed the tricks, the first one is simple, making an object-- a small ball-- appear and disappear, but when it vanished, it teleports to one of the audience. April instructed that guy to put it back to his pocket and she had the ball again.

The second trick was sort of a metamorphosis and pretty clever too. April uses the top hat with a lighter borrowed from one of the audience. She tore a piece of paper, set it on fire and placed it on the hat. She shake the hat strongly but not too strong that it will fall. After about 15 seconds, she stopped shaking and showed to the audience that the burning paper turned into an aqua dewdrop cardboard cutout.
