Ray’s POV

“Come on Ray get up! It’s your first day at a new school and you’ve already slept in.” Isabella scolded from the end of my bed. “I’m up mom, I’m up.” I groaned and sat up in my warm bed.

Rays of sunlight came through my windows due there being no curtains because I’m too lazy to finish setting up my room and unpacking. “Breakfast is ready downstairs for you and Emma should be here soon.” Isabella said and left the room before I could say anything.

I sighed and threw the black covers off me. Despite me saying she didn’t have to, Emma moved schools with me so like it or not I’m stuck with her for a while.

The smell of pancakes and bacon wafted from downstairs up into my room. I stood up and slowly walked downstairs like a zombie. Last night I was supposed to go to bed early but I couldn’t sleep so I decided to read then ended up staying up later than usual. (I do this way too often)

The smell got stronger the closer I got to the kitchen and when I entered I saw Emma sitting at the counter eating breakfast and wearing the tacky school uniform.

For some reason Emma wakes up at ungodly hours to get ready and come here but doesn’t find time for breakfast so Isabella usually makes her some.

I took a seat next to Emma and started to eat my food, thankfully it was still warm. “Are you excited?!” Emma asked happily with some food in her mouth.

“First of all, don’t talk with food in your mouth. Second of all, it’s a Monday and we have school. So no, not really.” I mumbled and shoved the fluffy pancake in my mouth.

“You should hurry up Ray, you need to leave in ten minutes.” Isabella warned as she washed the dishes from making the food. “Okay mom.” I said and ate quicker even though I didn’t really care about being late to school. Emma had already finished her food and downed her glass of orange juice.

“Are you gonna eat that?” She asked, motioning to the bacon with a raised eyebrow. “Just take it.” I sighed and gulped down my orange juice.

Once I finished my food I went upstairs to get dressed. The uniforms aren’t as bad as they were at my old school but they're still bad enough to complain.

Uniforms in general are just stupid but now isn’t really the time to complain about that. I sauntered out of the kitchen and up the stairs to my room.

The uniforms were black dress pants with a white button up, and a dark red tie. When I looked in my full length mirror after putting it on I cringed.

As always, my hair was a mess and dark bags were under my eyes. Sighing, I put on my shoes, grabbed my phone and bag. Knowing Emma she’s going to try and talk to people and I’m going to just stand there enduring it.

When I walked back downstairs Emma and Isabella were mid conversation, talking about god knows what. Before I could pick up on what they were saying Emma jogged over to me with a bright smile on her face.

“Let’s go!” She cheered and opened the front door. It was a little chilly outside but Emma didn’t seem to care and just walked out.

I shut and locked the door behind me and adjusted the strap of my bag on my shoulder.

The school was super close to my house and by super close I mean like a five minute walk for a normal person. Unfortunately Emma is not normal and walks at a very fast pace like the chaotic bisexual that she is.

“What class do you have first by the way?” Emma asked, speeding down the sidewalk for no reason. I pulled my schedule and scanned it.

“Math.” I answered. Math isn’t necessarily hard for me but I still am not the biggest fan of the class. “That sucks. I have History.” Emma whined. I put my schedule back in my bag and took out my phone.

“It’s 7:28 and school starts at 8:00, why did we leave so early?” I asked even though I think I already knew the answer.

“To look around the school and find where everything is.” She said but I could tell there was another reason so I just looked at them questioningly until she said it. “Okay, and to meet people!” She confessed.

Soon enough we arrived at the front of the school that was already swarming with students even though class didn’t start for another half hour.
