A talk with Harry pt.2

Grace's pov
I looked at the trio of 6-4 officers infront of me, Denver kept his guns tight and under control. This is the only time I've seen him near anything serious, it seems he does care about Gates and helping her make her dreams come true. Bear is the newest one I've met but he seemed to be the medium of the three he wasn't quite as much of a jokester as Denver but he wasn't nearly as serious as Gates, it was a nice refreshment. Gates is her usual self, when Denver first arrived she didn't show much emotion, she talked with Harry very pointedly and on topic. Now she walked with a purpose, her shemagh laying loosely around her neck and her Scorpion sub machine gun gripped expertly. Erik must've noticed me looking between the three as he whispered his question "an interesting group aren't they?" I nodded and replied "they're so different, but they become different people when they're on the job. It's so weird" I heard Gates "It's because we know we have to stay focused cause the moment we lose focus we die" I gasped as Denver teased "did you think we couldn't hear you?"
I sighed as Gates asked "this the room?" I saw Denver nod as he knocked 4 times, Harry called "come in!" Our group walked in and I saw Kali looking nervous at the appearance of the three 6-4 leaders. She put her hand on her spsmg9 as Denver pull the charging handle on his car 15 and Bear clicked his shotgun from safety. Suddenly Harry, Erik and I were on edge while Gates stood infront of me cool and calm "I recommend you think twice before pulling that machine pistol" Bear and Denver lifted their weapon systems and aimed at Kali. I watched her eyes dart between the two as Denver said "Do it Kali, give me a reason to pull this trigger. I fuckin dare you" my head darted towards him at the tone, it's the first time I've heard him sound genuinely mad. Erik looked between Denver and Kali as I noticed Kali's fingers start to move, before she pulled her secondary and started lifting it as Harry dove out of his seat and Bear and Denver fired, Kali's body went flying across the desk as Denver rushed forward and fired 3 more times into Kali.
      Denver crouched and started checking her pockets before finding a piece of paper, he handed it to Gates as he continued searching "Bear cover the door" Bear moved Erik and I and stood next to the door with his shotgun at the ready. Gates read off the paper "150,000 USD contract for the exchange of information and training to the mask sect in Central Europe. Contract expires 6/8/2022" Harry sighed before saying "while I'm glad we have our evidence, there's still 2 operators at Rainbow who work for her." Denver stood and lifted another note, as Gates asked "Can we take them out?" Harry looked conflicted before asking "can you detain them? It's bad enough you killed one in my office" Gates looked at Denver and Bear "Go get the other two, non-lethal only, clear?" Bear and Denver replied "check" and then they disappeared through the door. I saw Gates pull a body bag out of her bag causing me to ask "do you just carry body bags around?" Gates nodded "every 6-4 does" Erik replied slowly "that's... morbid" Gates countered "that's efficient" I heard some shouts and then gunshots in the distance. I wondered what happened.
Denver's pov
I walked with Bear "So we can't kill them, but we can maim them. So you shoot one in the knee I shoot the other in the thigh?" He chuckled "sounds like a plan" I turned the corner and saw Wamai "so you figured it out?" I spoke "Wamai you and Aruni are to be detained and brought before a military court. Save yourself the injury and come quietly" he lifted his Aug and fired as Bear threw me into cover and leaned around the corner blasting his shotgun. I heard Harry on the PA system "All operators be advised, Nighthaven are traitors. Do everything in your power to bring them into custody" I heard footsteps heading away from us causing me to turn the corner and fire a couple rounds as Wamai turned the corner. I radioed "Gates, they're heading for the parking lot! Tell Harry to update the others, Bear and I are on their ass!" As I patted his shoulder and we started running after the Nighthaven member. I turned the corner and saw Wamai and Aruni hauling ass through the door out to the open parking lot, I looked at Bear when we reached the door.
He nodded and I pushed the door open just to slam it closed as Aruni spun and fired a burst from her p10. I sighed and pushed through the door firing with my superior caliber as they slid into a truck. I fired a couple more rounds as Bear peppered the tailgate with his 12 gauge, just then I heard Alexsandr behind us "Comrades, get down" we crouched as I looked behind me and saw his Dp-28 raise and then start belching fire. I turned back and watched the rounds impact the truck as it crashed through the guards gate. I radioed "they escaped, they took a black Chevy Silverado. We put rounds in the tailgate and sides, should be pretty easy to spot" I turned and saw Alexsandr standing there with his Dp-28 pointed at us. Bear spoke "now friend I recommend you stop pointing that there machine gun at us before this turns ugly" Alexsandr asked in return "how can I trust you are good guys?" I commented simply "the fact we didn't shoot you the moment you pointed that gun at us" he seemed to mull over my words as I added "if we weren't on your side, why would we bring a contract in one of your teammates to Harry, help you try to capture the two traitors as they run and then stand here talking to you as you point a loaded gun at us?"
He sighed and lowered his gun as we walked back into the base together, I looked at him and spoke "my giant friend, I appreciate your assistance. Your mg was definitely useful" he nodded as Bear and I peeled off "Come to the mess hall later and I'll buy you a meal" he nodded and smiled "I warn you I eat a lot" I smiled as we walked through the halls back to Harry's office. I saw Gates and Erik bringing a body bag out, Gates stood and said pointedly "I thought I told you to bring them back in custody?" I replied boredly "you also said no killing them so we had to try to take out the truck and I tell you what, 12 gauge and 5.56 doesn't do good at disabling trucks." She sighed before asking "Are either of you two wounded?" Bear said "no" while I groaned leaning on her "oh Gates, I'm hit I'm gonna die. I need some of your food"
She nodded "so you're both fine, grand" I sighed and mumbled "so close" as we walked back in to Harry's office and he spoke "I'm not seeing either of the other two, so I'm assuming they managed to escape." I commented "you ever considered being a prophet?" He chuckled as Grace sighed "and we're back to being immature" I looked at her "I'm always immature, you just got a glimpse of the rare moments I have to be serious" she rolled her eyes as Harry said "We now have 2 targets, Nighthaven and the White Mask. I'd like The 6-4 to assist with guard and the targets" I saw Gates look conflicted before I spoke "my division is capable of doing guard" she looked at me as Bear spoke "besides my division is already keeping tabs on the Masks and Nighthaven" she sighed before speaking to Harry "alright, I'll accept that." She turned to me "Denver get your group to start moving here. Bear have your teams get the freshest intel we can, clear?" We nodded as I walked out leaving Harry and Gates to talk.
I grabbed my phone and started walking as I looked at Bear "The Nighthaven dorms are probably a good place for your intel hunt, rooms 23b and 31c" he nodded as I heard Grace behind me "Denver" I turned and asked "Yes Miss Grace?" She asked "why did you give Kali an out? I thought you hate Nighthaven? And why did you seem so mad?" I sighed and spoke "I'll answer you after I make my call, alright?" She nodded although she didn't look convinced as Erik said "I'm gonna go help Bear search the room" I gave a nod and walked outside calling Raider, I heard him "Hey boss, whatdaya need?" I replied "Mobilize the unit, you guys are coming to Hereford for Guard duty. Seems we're finally gonna be able to get our revenge on Nighthaven." He replied "sounds good, I'll get everything in order and on the plane within 2 hours" I said "good, don't let me down Raider." As I hung up and realized I was gonna have to go give Grace her answers. I slowly walked through the hallways back to the dorm, I opened the door and saw Grace sitting there patiently, I sat across from her and spoke seriously as I put my car 15 on the bed to my right "I understand you have some questions"
She seemed surprised at my tone before asking "why'd you give Kali an out? Before you shot her you told her to give you a reason. You gave her the chance to think against it, why?" I nodded and replied "If she didn't pull that pistol, she'd still be alive and we'd be getting answers right now." She nodded before asking "I thought you hate Nighthaven, why didn't you just blast Wamai and Aruni?" I answered "Gates said not to, so did Harry. They wanted their answers so I accepted that and went about trying to bring them their answers. Unfortunately they didn't have the same handicaps Bear and I did" She accepted my answer before asking her final question "Why did you seem so mad? You always seem so laid back and easy going." I asked in return "when we were in our standoff?" She nodded as I explained "I've lost more than enough of my teammates to Nighthaven, Bear and Gates are my best friends. Despite how apathetic Gates can seem she is a good friend, I hate Nighthaven and Kali tried to push her luck and take one of my closest friends. It pissed me off, she got lucky I only shot her a couple of times"
      Grace nodded before saying "I thought you said you don't take anything seriously" I shrugged and replied "Congrats, you're special now. But I really don't take most things seriously" I heard Gates from the doorway "Yea, you don't. Come on, we're giving a brief to the rest of Team Rainbow, catching them up on Nighthaven, their connections and habits." I pushed myself up and grabbed my car 15 from the bed next to me "alright Gates, but don't expect me to be serious" she spoke sternly "no, you will be serious. I'm not dealing with the jokes and stupid shit on a brief this important" I sighed and leaned back "such a drag" as Grace stood and grabbed her mk14. I looked over at her and asked "learn something from Erik and The 6-4?" She looked at her DMR and replied "I suppose so" I leaned on her shoulder "there's hope for you yet" as we walked out and followed Gates down to the room where the brief was to be given.
