While the Fisher's come accustomed to Carlos being in their lives, someone not far from their trailer is about to go through a rough patch. Charity Yorker, a hairstylist by trade, is a loveable tall and slender woman in her early 20s with reddish-brown hair that has some highlights that accentuate her emerald-colored eyes.
Charity grew up in Blacksburg and moved after she graduated from cosmetology school with a license she can use as a massage therapist. All she was concerned about was moving away from home from the trailer park she grew up in with an abusive step-father who loved to drink and a mother who always defended Charity's stepdad and covered up the abuse. After receiving the licenses to practice massage therapy and being a stylist, Charity loaded up her late 90s Mitsubishi Eclipse and took off with what money she had saved to find her place. Big Pattie cut her a deal when Charity looked at the trailer she rents and waved the safety deposit to cut the young woman a break when she noticed the bruises on her arms and back. After Charity got herself on her feet, she's met a wonderful guy who works with her neighbor in construction and nearly worships the ground she walks on.
"Good morning, beautiful," Tanzo says when he pulls his arm from under Chairty's pillow.
"MMM, good morning, baby. Have you been awake long?"
Tanzo shakes his head no and sits up, and scratches his stomach. On his feet, Tanzo stretches his five-foot-ten skinny frame. He's an electrician and tries to take care of his hands to keep them from cracking due to the hard work he puts in, usually six days a week. Tanzo hasn't fully moved in but stays at Charity's as much as possible and listens to stories about the years of abuse and neglect. Once a week, Tanzo will treat Charity to a special dinner out on the town with usually a movie or take her out to a field where they dance to music from the radio.
"Hey, don't forget I need to take my truck in for service today. I'll catch a ride back with Russell. That's if you don't mind me crashing here again," Tanzo says, gathering his clothes for a shower.
"Not at all! If you want, I can give you a key and let you come and go whenever you want. We've been dating for a few months now, and you've proven that I can trust you. Tanzo, you've been patient and wonderful. I don't know what else to say other than I love you."
Instantly Charity slaps her hand over her mouth as Tanzo stands there with a shocked expression on his face.
"Do what?"
Charity shakes her head with her cheeks blushing.
"Charity Yorker, did you say what I think you said? Do you love me? I hope you do because I love you too," Tanzo says and crawls back on the bed gently takes Charity's hands down to kiss her.
Beginning to shiver a bit, Charity brings her hand to Tanzo's cheek and begins to lie down while they continue to kiss. The heat between them swells, but Tanzo knows he can't waste time getting ready to drop his truck off at the garage.
"Oh, how I want to ravage you right now, but I need to get cleaned up for work. Do you care to drop me off?" Tanzo asks with his eyes closed as he backs away.
"Yes. I can do that since it's my late day. Care if I jump in the shower with you, so we don't get behind?"
"Come on, my love, let's hurry," Tanzo says and rushes into the shower.
By the time they're ready, Tanzo is nearly running late. He sees that Russell has left for work already. Charity grabs her keys and follows Tanzo out the door.
Charity arrives just behind Tanzo. It takes only a couple of minutes for him to drop the keys off and confirm what needs to be done to the truck. Once he takes a seat in the passenger seat of Charity's Eclipse, they quickly arrive at the housing development being built.
