ch. 1 | sleepless nights

the light was blinding. it was like the sun was exploding in front of their very eyes. and all they could do was watch, as the place they grew up in turned to ash.

"never let go, bakugou!"

the same dream. every night, those horrific memories would come back to torture him. the blast, the screams, the crying—every single night, he'd relive it all. why did everything have to fall apart? why did he have to lose the love of his life? why did he have to survive?! just to suffer?!

"bakugou, you okay?" deku was peering over from the other side of the bed, his glowing green features laced with concern.

"i just need some water."

not even sparing a glance at the puny male, he rose from the bed, and went to the bathroom. he sat on the toilet, pulled his pants down and peed into the toilet bowl. ever since then, he had gotten used to peeing sitting down.

"kacchan, it's been weeks since the bomb incident, don't you think it's time to move on?" deku leaned against the bathroom door, "can't i make you happy...aren't i enough?"

"stupid nerd! stupid, stupid, stupid!" bakugou burst. "you?! what about you would be enough! you're just a beta—not even, a gamma!! sure, your penetrating ability is high, but your ionising ability is so low! how could i ever be happy with that!"

he couldn't help the tears that started streaming down his face like a stream. "how could i ever be happy with you, when i had the man of my dreams beside me just weeks ago!"

"mineta..." deku growled.

"my alpha, my mate, my poopy patootie..." bakugou traced his fingers over the place where he'd been marked on his neck as he fell into a brief flashback, remembering all the times he'd shared with his beloved mineta. their first meeting at ua, bakugou almost squashing the 3' hunk under his foot. mineta secually harrassing and attacking him whenever he was in rut. falling so deeply in love that they began dorming together and slept in a single bed together. it was so perfect. until the nuclear bomb ripped them apart, and turned the whole city into a restricted zone. all those who didn't evacuate promptly enough, were trapped in the city, and now, here bakugou was, forced to cohabit with his enemy. it was heck.

suddenly, bakugou felt sick to his stomach. he got off the toilet and leant in front of it, emptying his stomach in the bowl.

"let me in, let me in!" deku cried anxiously, banging on the door and twisting the handle. "kacchan!
