Closing in on the second shack that was much smaller than the previous one, Ignis suddenly grabs Noctis' arm and turns him around before he could warp-strike one of the sabertusks. (Y/n), who was on the prince's shoulder at the moment, was startled by the advisor's sudden actions and flew off. "Not yet! I've got a plan," Ignis said.
Gladio joined them and formed a huddle. Prompto went to join them, but stopped when the skvader landed on his shoulder. He gasped, "Am I the chosen one?"
"Get your ass over here, pipsqueak," Gladio said, grabbing the front of the boy's shirt and dragging him into the huddle.
"What are we looking at?" Noctis asked.
"This creature is known as a "sabertusk." It skewers prey with its tusks, extracting game from the safety and comfort of burrows," Ignis informed his comrades.
Prompto cringed at the information. "That's...a bit heartless."
"Yeah, don't think we'll be befriending any," Gladio said.
They then discussed how Noctis would warp to the windmill and strike the pack of sabertusks from behind while everyone else distracted them. Prompto interjected before they could initiate their plan. "Why don't we just send (Y/n) to kill them all at once like she did in the barn? It'd save us the hassle."
"You're not getting outta this one, string bean," Gladio remarked. "Get ready to attack from the front."
"Aw..."
(Y/n) remained on the marksman's shoulder as they broke from their huddle and acted out their plan. Noctis warped to the windmill while the others attacked the pack of sabertusks. Once they had the creatures' full attentions, the prince joined the battle and attacked from behind. Within minutes, the beasts were dead and there weren't anymore in sight.
After clearing the area, a voice came from the shack. "Hey, who's out there?" A man opens the door and steps out. He leans against the doorway with a grimace.
"And look who's in here-the man of the hour. Dave, right?" Gladio questioned. "Been looking for you."
"Didn't mean to cause y'all any trouble. Been stuck here on account of my sprained ankle. Somethin' funny 'bout them varmints. I gave 'em hell, but couldn't finish the job. Still one mean mutt about. Y'all don't look much like hunters, but whaddaya say? Put that puppy to rest for me?"
Noctis nodded, deciding to not ask for a reward if they completed the mission. "Oh, yeah. We'll take care of it."
Dave smiled gratefully. "Y'all got guts, that's for sure. Lemme tell ya where I last saw him."
The shield patted Noctis on the shoulder. "Way to show some spunk. Now let's get ready to kick some tail."
Before they could leave to hunt down the mutated dualhorn, (Y/n) flew off Prompto's shoulder. She hovered a few feet from Dave and squeaked. Ignis could understand what she wanted to do and nodded. "Of course, (Y/n). Do escort Dave back to Hammerhead."
She landed on the ground and watched the boys walk away. When they were no longer in sight, she did her best to push away her shyness in order to help Dave and transformed.
