♥ Chapter 1 ♥

Seungmin's P.O.V.

I lifted my hand, focused my gaze on my hand. I started to send energy to my hand, more than what was used for any normal act of magic. As I lightly chanted the words of magic, a small ball of electricity hovered right above my palm. It looked as if I had captured a hundred lighting bolts, shrunk them, and learned to control them.

I started to put more energy into the spell, making the ball grow bigger, filling the room with a strange blue light and the eerie sound of crackling energy.

"I did it!"

Right as I had started to become excited about my achievement, the electricity orb died out to nothing. My body slumped from spending so much energy and the disappointment of getting distracted.

"How could I make a mistake that is usually made by children learning magic!" 

The room was now only lit by a small candle sitting on the desk I was sitting at. I let out a huff as I started to read the spellbook again. I needed to master the spell in three days and this was the first time I had managed to even cast it.

While going over the spell instructions for what felt like the hundredth time, I heard a small bell ringing, meaning someone had come into the shop.

I didn't like this. It was only 1pm. No sane wizard would risk going into what looked like an abandoned store in broad daylight. Which meant there were two options: the owner of the shop had come back eight hours earlier than expected or the kingdom's guards discovered the shop. Unfortunately, I highly doubted that I would be lucky enough for my teacher to be back so early. I rushed as quietly as I could upstairs, preparing myself to fight for my life.

Preparing a fire spell in the back of my mind, I peeked into the main room from the door I hid behind. In the middle of the shop, I saw a tall cloaked man. He turned to me and smiled.

"Whatever spell you are preparing, I can easily counter. Thankfully for you, I'm not here to attack you. I was sent by the League of High Wizards and Witches to talk to your teacher, Wizard Lee Minho."

"What does the League want with Minho?"

"Hmm, you do not refer to him as his proper title or by teacher Minho. Interesting. Also, it is really nothing you need to concern yourself with, but I will tell you your teacher is not in any trouble. If that was what you were worried about."

"What is your name?" I did not like this weird man. His atmosphere was, off? I'm not sure exactly what it was, but I refused to trust him.

"I am Wizard Wen Junhui, and if I were you, I would start treating wizards with more respect. Especially ones sent by the League." There was an amused affect to his words, which just chilled my blood even more.

Wen Junhui was one of the top Wizards in the League. He had been named the most powerful wizard to fight in the war against magic users and the Kingdom of Seunocal. To disrespect him could lead to a trial, one that I would probably lose.

"I am so sorry, Master Wizard Junhui." I said, while bowing to him in apology and respect.

"So, are you planning on telling me about the whereabouts of your teacher?"

"Yes, he is currently at a meeting of many other shop owners from this part of the kingdom. He is not supposed to be back for many hours. Should I give him the message once he has returned?"

Jun walked over to a shelf and picked up a random bottle and started to examine it. "hm. No, I shall find an inn to stay in for the night and return in the morning to give him the news myself. I shall see you later, Kim Seungmin." And with that, the wizard walked out of the shop still holding the bottle full of a poisonous liquid.

Constantly looking back and forth from where he had been standing and the door, I felt my jaw slowly drop. "Did he just, did he just steal something?"

I walked over to the shelf where the bottle had been sitting to see in place of the bottle three gold coins and one silver coin, all perfectly lying on top of each other. The exact price of the ingredient.
