Seungmin's P.O.V.

3:45p.m.

Three hours. I have been working on the same spell for three hours and only once have I been even close to summoning it.

"What in Kivanter let me do this so well yesterday, but not today?"

"Well, you probably weren't as angry or as stressed as you are today."I jumped in my seat. i didn't expect the meeting to go so quickly. "Is there a specific place you mess up in or are you just failing completely." While this could be a joke, I knew Minho was scolding me.

"I mess up right before I can actually make the electricity." I mumbled, disappointed in myself for lacking the concentration to work the spell correctly.

"And how do you know that's where you mess up?" Minho questioned.

"I can feel the electricity at the tips of my fingertips and it makes me feel like I have more power."

"Good description, at least you can figure out one thing." He can't even tell me I did a good job without also reminding me that I suck at something else.

"How did your meeting go?" I asked, desperately trying to change the topic, "Are you in trouble with the council?"

"I'm not exactly in trouble, it's that the council thinks I have 'forgotten' some rules that need to be followed to run a magic shop in Seunocal That's all." By the tone of Minho's voice, I could tell he definitely did not forget about those rules and that he was likely in more trouble than he was letting on.

"You should take a break from studying. It's not helpful to stare at the same page for so long. Eventually you try to learn with a fried brain."

"But I have the test in tw-"

"And I'm the person who grades it." I rolled my eyes and hoped he didn't see.

"And you expect perfection from everything."

"First of all, you really shouldn't roll your eyes at your teacher, and secondly, I'll help you tomorrow."

"How did he even see me? I wasn't facing him!"

"You start working in an hour, until then, just go out and pretend to be a functioning human. Okay."

"Yes sir." I closed my book and started to leave the basement, having no idea where I was supposed to go.

"I really need to teach him better manners if I don't want to get into more trouble with the League." I don't think Minho meant for me to hear him complain about me, but who knows.

I was standing in front of an ad board that was close to the shop, staring at all the different ads, trying to find something that would catch my eye. Unfortunately, most of the things that looked worth doing were either too far away or too expensive.

♦ Seustry Bakery - Open from 9a.m.- 4:30p.m. - Best pastries in Seunocal - Located at 1526 Seonocet Street ♦

"I should be able to get there in time." I whispered to myself.

"I'm pretty sure Soobin told me about this place. He said it was really good."

I started walking in the direction of the bakery, hoping to make it in time to but something. I reached my hand into my pocket to make sure I had enough silver coins on me. Instead of finding money, I felt a small bottle in my pocket.

I tried to not look too shocked while walking in the large crowd. The last thing I needed was for people to think I was suspicious.

While I knew it would be dangerous to check what the bottle was in public, but it was important to know what magical item I was carrying. I was able to quickly spot a small alleyway that would decently safe to check.

I went to the back of the alleyway and once again reached my hand into my pocket, but this time I pulled out the bottle.

It was full of what appeared to be harmless ashes. In reality, the ash came from the burnt remains of a rare type of gem that could only be destroyed by a drial dragon—a special species of dragon that had the power to create blue fire. If it wasn't labeled in a weird-looking language, commonly known to be the language of magic, it was unlikely to be reported to the guards.

I didn't quite know why I had the bottle in my pocket—I know I had used it early this morning while working on a potion but there was no reason it should have been in my pocket.

While walking out back into the busy street as naturally as I could: I started to put the tiny bottle back into my pocket. When I was finally blended into the crowd again, I let myself relax how alert I was still being aware of my surroundings, just not letting even the slightest off glance in my direction make me feel suspicious.

I stood in front of Seustry Bakery. It had a circular sign hanging over the door that displayed the bakery's name; the name was surrounded by a leaf design and delicate pink lines. The building looked welcoming and had a sweet aroma coming from it

I walked in and looked at the main counter, where there were two people working, one boy and one girl. Before going to order, I scanned a counter with different types of pastries on them with organized labels in front of each baked good.

A tiny light-colored tart caught my eye. It was a cream-filled tart with large pieces of sugar-coated strawberries on top. I decided to get two, one for Minho. As I was ordering my tart, I realized how beautiful the girl who was taking my order was. She had short, curly light brown hair with bangs. She was average height, but still shorter than me.
