??? POV

Those words.

'I love you...'

They were three special words that I never imagined I'd hear from anyone aside my own mother for as long as I would ever live.

That presumption was dead wrong.

My quirkless upbringing instilled a bit of an inferiority complex within me, and the belief that I'd spend my life in prison only stirred the flames of my own hopelessness. But, even with all of that, I managed to find my reprieve from the hell I was forced into.

It was just hidden behind the gates of the underworld.

Funny how these things work, isn't it?

They really make you earn your happiness...

Although, I now know that my effort is proof that I deserved every bit of joy I experienced...

bzzzzzzzzz!

BZZZZZZZZZZ!

"What...?" Izuku's groggy voice asked aloud, as his phone buzzed loudly atop his bedside dresser, waking him up. He rolled over to the side to see what the cause was, and noticed a familiar number the screen.

'Chisaki? Why is she calling me?'

Izuku picked up the phone, clicking the green icon, and pressed it against his ear, "Hello?"

"Midoriya!!" She screamed from her side of the line.

"GAHHH!! What?!" Izuku exclaimed, startled at the sudden noise.

"Hmph, if you're going to act rudely, maybe I won't say anything," She huffed.

Izuku facepalmed, "What are you- ugh, fine... Can you please tell me?" He mocked, a childish voice replacing his normal tone.

"Yes. I want you to come to the location I've sent to you immediately. I will inform you of more when you arrive,"

beep

"Wait, hold o- aaand, she hung up. Fucking great!!" Izuku shouted, loud enough to wake up the other resident of the apartment.

The door to his room creaked open, revealing the older Midoriya, "Izuku? Why are you yelling this early in the morning?" She asked, wiping her eyes.

"Oh! Sorry, mom! I got a call from... someone," He said the last word with a hint of distaste.

"Are they from school?" She questioned, noticing the shift in his tone.

"No, no. It's just someone I met recently,"

"Is it a girl?!!"

"...Yes," Izuku groaned, knowing what was to come next.

"MY BABY IS GETTING A GIRLFRIEND!!!" She jumped forward and hugged the late teen, to his embarrassment. Izuku didn't even attempt to protest her conclusion, as he knew it would be entirely useless.

'goodness...'

...

The late teen casually strolled along the beachside, enjoying the brisk morning air as it softly blew against his adolescent skin. The sunrise was beautiful, sporting a vast array of vibrant colors that acted as a silver lining to the shitshow that was to ensue with his new acquaintance. It was indeed most unfortunate that such a calming and relaxing sight would be wasted in the following moments, but Izuku was able to appreciate the brief time he had with the serenity.
