Chapter 1: Unspoken Love

I open my eyes. I looked around me, my empty bed. I stood up from the bed, and began to walk around. From what I can gather, as I look around, this is a dream. But my question is, is this a dream, or a nightmare?

As I kept waiting, I heard a voice ring out behind me. Sickening laughs, just ringing out and echoing to the void and past my bed. I hear the laughter echo, and it hits walls in front of me. I hear it in front of me and behind me and beside me and I can't handle this anymore..
Please wake up. PLEASE WAKE UP.

I woke up.
I began tearing up. It happened again.. I can't keep doing this..

I get out of bed and look at the time, and begin getting ready for school this week. I pack the books I brought to study, as well as pen I borrow yesterday. I opened the door and took a deep breath in. He told me breathe in, breathe out, take a hop and a skip, and smile. And so that's what I did, and I did it.. again. I began skipping as someone began walking my way.

"Hey! Kamaye! Ready for school?" The voice asked me, as I looked up.
"Hey Rhed!" I told him, as I walked up to him.

"You stepped on the wallet again.. Jeez what's up with that? I've been getting a bunch of good luck recently, but for the past few days it's been repeating." He says, as I shrug it off and begin walking to school.

I arrived and get bumped. I couldn't get a glance at who it was, but Rhed just glanced at the floor. As we kept walking, I saw them begin to laugh again. I was about to walk toward them and ask them if they have a staring problem, but was hoarded by a bunch of girls.

I couldn't hear anything they said, but I can tell they like me. I turn to Rhed and signaled him to get them away from me, but he just backed away. I'm stuck with these girls again..

After that display, I enter the classroom. Everyone begins to holler and whoop at me, as I sit down. The teacher enters the room and just sits down. He just say down and reads his newspaper, as the class began to get loud. I decided to look around the classroom and see everyone. I noticed someone talking to a girl, Rhed sitting by the window, and a group of girls around one sitting down. I stood up from my chair and walked over to Rhed, who was admiring the view under us.
"Heya Rhed! What're y-"
I noticed he had a cigarette in his mouth, already lit and he was letting the smoke leave the room.

"Hey Kamaye, you see that girl at the end of the classroom? Listen to what they're saying. They aren't her friends." He says, as I listen a bit closer.

"Speak up!"
"You're only lonely because you won't talk to us!"
"Oh come on! You don't need this stupid Notebook!" I heard them say, as I see a notebook hit the ground.
"Keep smoking and you'll end up burnt."

I walked towards them and sat at a desk close by. I know I'm popular, so I need to use it to get their attention.
I tapped the desk and I spoke softly.
"Psst, who wants the early worm?" I said, as they all turned around and flock to me. I managed to get over them and push them to Rhed, as his cigarette fell of the building and he stood there, defeated.

I walked up to the girl, who was crying. I picked up the notebook and walked back to her, giving it to her on her desk.

"Hey, you ok? I saw them making fun of you." As she nodded, looking up at me with such wet and teary eyes. My eyes widened, and I reached into my pocket for my handkerchief.

"Oh No no no, don't cry! Here, have this." I gave her my handkerchief, as she smiled and began wiping her tears.
"Oh! Before I forget, here's your pen back!" As she looked at me with wide eyes.
I offered her the pen, as she took it and immediately began writing in the notebook I gave her.
"Thank you very much!" The notebook said, as I read it and was admittedly really confused.

"I'm right here, you can talk to me. Why don't we start by you tel-"
She began tearing up again.
"Oh, don't cry! I'm sorry for asking you that, I didn't know!" I said, as I picked up the handkerchief and wiped away her tears.
Her skin is so.. soft. I only now noticed how beautiful she looked. She had blue eyes and pigtails, as my eyes locked onto her.

"Aw, why would anyone bully a beauty like you?" I asked, as she began turning red.
She turned away from me, flustered.
"Aw, alright. Well I gotta get to second block, could I get your name?" I asked her, as she began writing?.
"Shizuka." The note said, as I smiled at her.
I walked back to Rhed as he stood there, still surrounded by girls.

"You're an asshole, you know that?"
"Heh, whoops!"

After lunch, I see Shizuka again, this time with another boy. He had orange hair and a winter jacket, his hair was parted and he looked like a nice guy, so I relaxed and finished lunch.

School finished without me learning anything, as I walked around the school. The school had a long corridor and then the main building, and so I was walking around the long corridor. As I was walking, I noticed Shizuka, and suddenly my heart dropped. I decided to balls up and ask if she wants to walk home with me.
"Hey Shizuka! It's me Kamaye! Wanna walk home together?" I asked her, as she started writing. She looked very troubled, but then wrote:

"If you see something bad, you won't stop being friends with me right?"
"Of course not!" I said, as she smiled at me.

As we were walking, she began twirling her pen in her hands, as we were kind of awkwardly walking.
Eventually she wrote something on her notebook:
"Why are you hanging out with me? What do you want from me?"
"It's quite simple, actually. I think you're too nice of a girl to be bullied the way you are. Even if you're mute, you're a human like us." I said to her, as she turned away from me.

I think I made her mad.

We eventually arrived at her house, and she knocked on the door. She gave me a folded piece of paper, and put it in my pocket. Before I could see what it said, the door opened.
I saw a scarred man, super tall, just staring at me. She went inside, not before waving me goodbye.

"What's yer name?" The man said, with a voice deeper than the ocean.
"K-Kamaye."
"Watch yourself." He said, closing the door.

I'm a bit scared.
