coming back to their neighbourhood, as she could only look at the ground. the notion of her defeat left a bitter taste in the tip of her tongue but still filled with determination to escape her husband by paper. finally facing their front door and toji unlocked the knob and stepped in first while she followed behind, unknown emotions filling her up as it told her to run away, to leave this trashy community and finally taste the freedom she used to have.

she closed the door as she walked back to her room, it was reckoned to be a shared bedroom but toji had been avoiding sleeping thereby insisting that he takes the couch rather than be a nuisance by sleeping with her; a shallow lie.

she locked the door and threw her bag in the closet as she laid under layered covers, gawking at the ceiling as tears finally fill the brim of her eyes as they slowly drop down her face one by one. some could reason that she was being overdramatic and even using her tears as an excuse to forsake her family. she heard every gossip that involved her yet she couldn't misbehave, the thought of toji looking at her with that same disapproving look would hurt her pride.

muffled voices echoed through the walls but she paid no attention to it, she was so close but of course, she had to hesitate and ravage it all. a row of emotions struck her all at once, she was miserable, frightened and even furious. all her efforts to save up to run away had been destroyed by no one but herself. it was all in vain.

toji would be lying if he said he didn't feel remorseful but could you blame him? he assumed she was pleased having a home and a family to go home to, that was all she yearned for when they first met.

she sighed and breathed in the fragrance that emitted from the flowers, smiling over them as her gaze shifted to toji's expressionless face.

"have you ever thought about having a family?" she asked, gently rubbing the petals between her index finger and thumb.

he stood quiet, the notion of having a family was too much for him, he understood this when his wife gave him a beautiful boy, a blessing but as a coward he was (and still is) he ran away, fearing what he may cause to their newly born child. shortly wishing undone his decision once he found out the demise of his wife, finally taking responsibility after his son as a tribute to his wife and as his role of being a father.

he shrugged and closed his eyes, both staying silent while toji finally had time to think.

"I would like to have a family if it's possible at least" she spoke, earning no response to toji. she decided to drop the subject.

"where did y/n go?" megumi asked as toji ruffled his hair.

"uh, to the park" he excused, as his son asked again, removing toji's large hand off his head.

"why didn't she take me with her?"

"because you're stubborn" toji explained, pinching both of his cheeks. earning a laugh from his son as he smiled at him, taking toji's mind off of y/n for a while.

he had to stay mindful of his actions now, to ensure nothing like this happens again, he thought. he peered around the house, it was a mess but
y/n would constantly be the one to tidy the house but due to his abrupt change of heart, he agreed to be considerate; for once. and let her rest since she hadn't stopped working when she married into this pathetic excuse of a family.

y/n however held a blank expression, dark bags under her eyes with dried tears visibly stained her cheeks. almost as if she lost all hopes; well, surely it can't that bad, right?  fidgeting with her fingers as they were bruised by how she picked her skin. tomorrow was gonna be a fresh start for her and try to bear with these living conditions until she can find an opening again, but for now, she had to depend on a facade to make their suspicions against her disappear.

finally closing her eyes and let her scheme commence.
